The first of its kind in California, a co-management agreement for the Clear Lake watershed was formally signed by all parties Friday, September 11, 2026, on the rancheria of the Big Valley Band of Pomo Indians on the shoreline of Clear Lake. The official title of the agreement is, “Clear Lake Watershed and Chi (Ṣátti) Memorandum of Understanding Co-Management Agreement,” which is not a legally binding agreement, but a written commitment to continue strengthening a collaborative working relationship among all parties. Both the County of Lake and the Lake County Watershed Protection District are signatories to the agreement. More information here:

Did you know? Puppers that wag their tails a lot are harder to photograph, and Nova loves to wag her tail! Just over one year old, Nova loves other dogs and kids. She's a German shepherd mix that was found in Upper Lake and has been at the shelter for a month. She is ready for her forever home now!

Also, there is a Vaccination Clinic on Wednesday, September 16 from 9 to 11am at 4949 Helbush Dr in Lakeport - at the Lake County Animal Care & Control - where Nova is also waiting for you!

UPDATE: For public awareness, Lampson Airfield (1O2) remains closed to all but emergency aircraft at least today (Monday, 9/14/2026) and tomorrow (Tuesday, 9/15/2026) due to ongoing operations in response to the Lucas Fire. CAL FIRE aircraft are expected to remain in the area (and at Lampson) for a longer period, and the current Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) restricting traffic remains in effect through 11:59pm Wednesday (9/16/2026). As of this writing, it is anticipated Lampson Airfield will be available for general aviation purposes by Thursday, 9/17/2026. Thank you for exercising appropriate caution, and we are deeply grateful to all of the men and women continuing to work hard in response to the Lucas Fire.

We will always remember the first responders, military personnel, and countless others whose heroic actions helped our nation heal in the aftermath of the horrific attacks on 9/11.

Please take a moment today to thank a member of law enforcement or our military, a firefighter (including those battling the Lucas Fire) or one of the hardworking men and women who resurface our roads, keep clean water flowing through the pipes to our homes, and serve our communities in so many other ways.

Today, we remember those who have fallen, honor those who answered the call, and appreciate the everyday heroes who continue to serve and protect our communities and the American way of life.

We will never forget.

Public Works Director Lars Ewing Voluntarily Resigns Effective Immediately
Resignation Accepted September 10, 2026

Lake County, CA (September 10, 2026) – Effective immediately, the Director of Public Works, Lars Ewing, has voluntarily resigned his employment with the County of Lake. His resignation was accepted by the County Administrative Officer on behalf of the Lake County Board of Supervisors.
