Lakeport State Park is looking for Volunteer Campground Hosts for the month of May and the Month of August. Any experience level of hosting is welcome to apply. A full hookup campsite will be provided to you. You must supply your own camping equipment. Those selected must pass a background check before hosting.

Duties include 30 hours of volunteer work weekly; hosting coffee hour on Saturday, answering camper's questions, picking up trash, cleaning firepits, relaying messages to park staff, optional crafts/games, plus more.

This is a great opportunity for those who love camping and would like to volunteer to help out the park!

​Please join us in celebrating the graduation of Officer Forbes and Officer Olson from the 2026 Michigan DNR Parks and Recreation Law Enforcement Academy! 🎓

​These two have worked incredibly hard to earn their badges. Throughout the academy, they consistently excelled, showing top-tier performance in Survival Tactics Defense Training, as well as sharp critical thinking during classroom instruction and real-world scenarios.
​We are thrilled to have them back in the field:

⚓ Officer Forbes will continue serving at Lexington State Harbor as Assistant Harbormaster.
🌳 Officer Olson will continue serving at Lakeport State Park as a Park Ranger.

​We are beyond proud of their dedication to protecting our natural resources and keeping our visitors safe. If you see them out in the field, be sure to say hello and congratulate them!

We have been receiving questions about the projects occurring this year and next at Lexington State Harbor. We have also been hearing rumors that the entire harbor is shut down completely this year - this is not true.

Not much has changed since our initial press release in January. At the time of writing this post, the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is in the process of awarding bids for the two projects that will affect this season for boating.

There is a list of closures listed on our website that includes the boat launch and various slips at the State Docks. We are hoping that once work begins, some of these closures can be adjusted. However, until then, we have to be cautious.

Village of Lexington - The Village of Lexington Tierney Park project is still moving along as planned. For details on this project, please reach out to the Village of Lexington directly.

Although it is unfortunate that boating in Lexington is affected by all these projects, please remember that everything will be worth it once the work is completed. Lexington is a great town with great boating opportunities!

There’s a place in Port Huron that sits near the base of the Blue Water Bridge. It’s the Blue Water Convention Center and we’ll be there March 13-15 for MARVAC RV Show.

Lakeport State Park is hiring! Pay starts at $15.50 an hour. What a great way to spend your summer employment, working in the great outdoors!

This is a great summer job for anyone, including high school graduates, college students, retirees, or anybody looking to get their foot in the door of the DNR!

Some duties include; registering campers/boaters, grounds maintenance, building maintenance, picking up trash/debris, handling customers needs.

Big changes are coming to Lexington State Harbor!

Starting in the spring, you will see some temporary closures at the harbor so we can work on improvements for you. We will be dredging the navigation channel, repairing the breakwall, and more.

You can expect closures at the marina periodically until summer 2027. The improvements, along with those at Tierney Park, will make Lexington State Harbor a premiere Lake Huron destination for years to come!
