FREE PAINT
3rd and 4th grade had different watercolor lessons, but when they were finished with those, both grades got to spend some time experimenting with their own styles and painting whatever they wanted.

Before we started painting we made value scales to practice using water to make paint lighter and darker.

COLOR QUIZ:
What color would you get if you mixed red playdoh with yellow playdoh?
What about yellow and blue? Blue and red?
First we predicted, and then we experimented to find out.
(We were right every time?)

3rd grade watercolor painting - step 1
Before we got the paint out the students used print resources to find drawing ideas. The how-to-draw books help them draw pictures to paint (of course), but they also teach how to read and follow a visual sequence.

We’re asking for orders to be picked up by an adult. This will allow you to check your order.
The order will only be given to a student if they bring in a note stating they have permission to pick it
up. The note should list the name of the student and must be signed by the adult who purchased the
order. This information must match the names listed on the order form.
Any issues with your order must be reported at the time it’s picked up, before leaving the
school office.

1st grade artists wholeheartedly embraced our recent lines project. There are so many types of lines, and so many things you can do with them.

IMAGINATION LINES
I gave each 2nd grader an index card with a random black line.
They gave me back a world of imagination.
