It was 13 years ago today we started our public campaign to get the Frances Langford Promenade rededicated.

Thank you each and every one of you that made that happen.

And a hearty "Welcome!" to every Lakelander and visitor who gets to enjoy the promenade.

On April 4th, 1913 Frances Langford was born. To honor Langford's volunteer spirit, tomorrow is Frances Langford Day at the promenade. There will no charge to walk, run or ride your bike on the beautiful pathway surrounding Lake Mirror.

As is true every other day of the year.

January 22, 1949

Movie star and singer Frances Langford, native of Lakeland, returned for a visit on January 22, 1949 with her husband Jon Hall who co-starred with Dorothy Lamour in several movies. After her film career Miss Langford shared the lead with Don Amache in a popular long-running radio series. She was discovered as a singer by Rudy Vallee ca. 1930. She later became the wife of Ralph Evinrude of outboard motor fame.
