⭐ Meet our Kensington Woods High School Student of the Week, Kaydence! ⭐

Kensington Woods Schools recognizes sophomore Kaydence Bryant as this week’s Student of the Week. Kaydence is a member of the Early College program and has shown great academic growth this year. She is a hard worker who is willing to put in extra time to fully understand the material, and that dedication has helped her continue to grow and succeed. Kaydence is also known for being thoughtful and polite, bringing a steady and respectful presence to her classes each day.

Kaydence is also a dedicated ice skater and a talented artist. Her creativity shows in the work she produces, and her teachers appreciate both her effort and the way she carries herself. Art teacher Chris Boudrie shared, “She is quite creative, respectful, and kind. She is an inspiring student.”

⭐ Meet our High School Student of the Week, Mikayla! ⭐

Kensington Woods Schools recognizes sophomore Mikayla Kirkaldy as this week’s Student of the Week. Mikayla is a strong student who consistently works hard, keeps up with her responsibilities, and continues to challenge herself to grow. She holds a 3.7 GPA and is recognized by her teachers for her commitment to excellence in school. Her English teacher, Mr. Ferguson, shared, “Mikayla is a creative student who keeps up with work and challenges herself to grow at all times.”

Mikayla is also a thoughtful and talented artist whose work explores personal and sometimes challenging topics in meaningful ways. Her artwork has been recognized both in and out of school, including being featured by Representative Barrett in the Congressional Art Show and displayed in multiple art shows throughout the community. In addition to her academic and artistic accomplishments, Mikayla is also a key member of the Kensington Woods Volleyball team.

⭐ Introducing our High School Student of the Week, Austin! ⭐

Kensington Woods Schools recognizes senior Austin Hopp as this week’s Student of the Week. Austin is a member of the Early College Program and is working toward his Michigan Transfer Agreement Certificate through Washtenaw Community College. He plans to transfer to Michigan State University to study computer science with a specialization in digital forensics. Over his years at Kensington Woods, Austin has shown tremendous growth in both academics and character. He is highly dependable, willing to put in the work it takes to be successful, and able to find the humor in things, which makes him enjoyable to be around and helps bring a positive energy to those around him.

Austin has also made meaningful contributions outside the classroom. He is a member of the cast of the senior production of Macbeth and also served as the show’s sound designer, taking on both performance and technical responsibilities. For his Senior Exhibition project, Austin is exploring the topic of artificial intelligence, researching how deepfakes can be identified and creating an informative video to help the public better understand how to spot them. His English teacher, Mr. Ferguson, shared, “Austin is willing to put in the work that it takes to be successful. He has an excellent brain for logistics and organization.”

⭐ Meet our High School Student of the Week, Kaleigh! ⭐

Kensington Woods Schools recognizes Kaleigh Powers as this week’s Student of the Week. Kaleigh is in the Early Middle College, completing her final year at Kensington Woods, and she is graduating at the top of her class. She will also graduate with an Associate degree in Digital Media Arts and a Certificate in Graphic Design from Washtenaw Community College. Her hard work was further recognized this semester when she was honored for high honors at Washtenaw Community College’s Honors Convocation and she had work on display as part of WCC's student art show. Kaleigh’s success reflects her incredible drive, work ethic, and focus..

Kaleigh started the band Grace Marie with a fellow Kensington Woods graduate and has performed in New York City. She plans to continue developing the band after graduation. She also works as a social media director for a local business and plans to keep growing her career in marketing and design while continuing her music. Kaleigh is well spoken, a strong advocate for the things she cares deeply about, and a great role model for other students. Principal Jessie Pratt shared, “All of us at Kensington Woods are so proud of Kaleigh and all she has accomplished and how she has grown as a Kensington Woods student. Her drive, passion and talent will take her amazing places!”

Come out to the Howell Opera House Friday from 6-7:30pm to check out the Youth Art Voice show put on by Livingston County Community Alliance!

16 KWoods students will have their work in the show along with students from all over the county, sharing their thoughts on mental health through their art.

⭐ Introducing our High School Student of the Week, Alaina! ⭐

Kensington Woods Schools recognizes sophomore Alaina Pierson as this week’s Student of the Week. Alaina is a very hard-working and talented student who consistently puts forth strong effort in her classes and is currently earning A’s in most of them. She is known for her sweet disposition and “can do” attitude, which make her a positive presence in the school community. Alaina approaches her work with care and determination, and her teachers recognized both her talent and her willingness to contribute.

Music is a big part of Alaina’s life and one of the many areas where she excels. She is a member of the Music Theory class and Chamber Singers, Kensington Woods Schools’ top choir, and outside of school she is also involved with School of Rock where she performs regularly in different bands. Music teacher Logan Dean shared, “She provides incredible contribution to the classes she is in and is willing to help anyone if they need it.”
