Magnolia Montessori Academy

Magnolia Montessori Academy MMA is a preschool, plus a public charter school serving grades K-8.

Magnolia Montessori Academy opened its doors in August 2013 and was started by a group of like-minded parents who had a wish to provide more Montessori education in a neighborhood setting to more students in Polk County. Magnolia Montessori’s 5-acre campus is nestled among the trees in the heart of Lakeland, FL.

Our classrooms have had some extra special animal friends lately 🥰🐍🕷️

For the “Sn” sound of the week, Primary students enjoyed the opportunity to gently pet and hold a snake while learning through hands-on experiences and curiosity-led exploration.

And the students were equally delighted to welcome a new classroom pet — a friendly fuzzy spider the students affectionately named "Spinderella" ✨

Moments like these help children grow in curiosity, confidence, gentleness, observation, and wonder as they engage with the natural world in meaningful and memorable ways.

This day turned into a fun and meaningful craft experience for both Upper Elementary classrooms, boys and girls alike, as the children created beautiful flower crowns for their moms or another special woman in their life for Mother’s Day 💐

Beyond being creative and thoughtful, activities like this help shape important areas of childhood development. Creativity strengthens problem-solving, imagination, fine motor skills, self-expression, and flexible thinking — all while allowing children to experience the joy of making something meaningful with their own hands.

The excitement, focus, and pride on their faces made this such a sweet day to witness. ✨

Our rising first graders had a special tour of the kitchen and cafeteria today as they prepare for an exciting new milestone — beginning to eat lunch in the cafeteria for their elementary school years! 🥰

Moments like these help students become familiar with new spaces, routines, and expectations in a calm and encouraging way. Transition experiences build confidence, independence, and comfort as children step into new stages of growth.

It was a fun opportunity to explore the cafeteria, meet the staff, ask questions, and begin imagining themselves in this next season of elementary life. 🍎✨

Third Grade Shadow Day in Upper Elementary Biscayne and Acadia 🥰

Shadow Day gives our third graders a chance to become familiar with the Upper Elementary environment, meet the teachers, connect with older students, and begin feeling comfortable and confident in the classroom they may soon be joining.

During their visit, students participated in collaborative projects where they created imaginary islands together — thinking through questions like:

🌿 What grows on their island?
🍍 What can people eat there?
🦜 What animals live there?
🛠 What important jobs are needed?
☀️ What kind of climate does it have?

Experiences like these help make the transition into Upper Elementary feel exciting and relational rather than intimidating. It also gives our Upper Elementary students the opportunity to step into leadership and mentorship in a warm, welcoming, and encouraging way.

Last week, our Secondary class welcomed the Lakeland Police Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit for an engaging, hands-on science experience connected to our ongoing Cycle Theme of Identity.

Students learned how fingerprints and DNA help identify individuals, explored real forensic investigation techniques, and worked together to analyze evidence during a surprise mock crime scene activity.

Thank you to the Lakeland Police Department for helping bring science to life and inspiring curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration in our students. 🔍🧬🚔

When all of the state testing is finished, learning does not have to stop! Our secondary class has been busy working on their Passion Projects, and some students chose to put their initiative into action in the kitchen. 🍅🧀

Together, they made homemade tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches using fresh basil picked right from our garden! From cooking and serving to cleaning up the dishes afterward, students practiced practical life skills, teamwork, and servant leadership every step of the way.

We love seeing students take ownership of their learning, serve their classmates with care, and discover that meaningful learning happens far beyond a test. ❤️

A sweet end to a favorite tradition. ☀️☕️

Throughout the year, our secondary students have lovingly hosted “Tea & Coffee for Teachers” days—creating specialty drinks, taking orders, and walking throughout the school delivering them with care and smiles. Friday was their final café day of the school year, featuring a special summer menu! 💛

Teachers enjoyed:
🍋 Homemade Lemonade
🧋 Iced Tea
☕️ Iced Coffee
🥛 Iced Lattes

These moments are about so much more than drinks. They cultivate responsibility, hospitality, creativity, confidence, and community as students serve others in meaningful ways.

We’re so proud of our secondary students and the joy they’ve brought to the halls all year long.

A little beauty, a lot of love, and a room full of beautiful blooms. 💐

Today for Teacher Appreciation Week, our Magnolia parents brought in flowers for our teachers to create their own personalized bloom bouquets and each arrangement turned out as unique and beautiful as the teachers themselves. 🌸✨
