Hello City of Lakeland Residents!

We wanted to give you an update on a few changes we will be implementing effective immediately. All information regarding the City of Lakeland, including the Senior Center updates, will now all be streamlined to the City's main page.

LSC Valentine's Day/Galentine's Day Showered Attendees with Love

Sweethearts and friends celebrated love, friendship, and admiration, at Lakeland Senior Center’s Valentine’s Day/Galentine’s Day Luncheon. Attendees were treated to a mouth-watering lunch catered by Victory Lane BBQ, featuring pull-pork sandwiches, beans, slaw, potato salad, and dessert.
After the meal, it was fun and games, featuring Candy Bingo. Participants filled their Bingo card using sweetheart candies. Darlene Marcks and Janice Harden were the big winners. Each received a $15 restaurant gift card. Everyone won a little something playing Poke the Cup. A few of the cups had big surprises inside. Pat Hoese won one of those prizes - a $10 fast food restaurant gift. Other goodies inside the cups included cookies, crackers, and various candies. Those poking cups that contained numbers inside, won heart-shaped boxes of candy and specialty chocolates. Guests also took home more Valentine candy, hand-made heart-shaped soaps, and the ladies were gifted boxes of neat items that included t-shirts, cups, towels, lotions, oven mitts, etc., donated by a local church of one of LSC’s participants.
“It was a lovely day for those joining us for lunch on Valentine’s Day,” said Kim Odom, manager of LSC. “Guests were showered with lots of goodies, a delicious meal, and lots of attention.”

Lakeland Senior Center will be closed Wednesday, December 21, 2022, through Monday, December 26, 2022. City Hall will close Thursday at Noon. All city offices will reopen on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 8 a.m.

The City of Lakeland trash service will run on normal schedule on the week of Christmas and the week of New Year's.

It's been looking a lot like Christmas around Lakeland Senior throughout the month of December. On Friday, December 9, 2022, retirees packed the IH Clubhouse for the annual Christmas Dinner. It was festive event with lots of food, prizes, music by Gary Abbott (provided by Creative Aging), and dancing. There were a record number of dancers at the dinner. The meal was catered by Victory Lane BBQ featuring catfish, hush puppies, cold slaw, and French fries. Thanks to everyone that came out to join us.

Staff would like to thank Jamae James for helping take pics at the event. Thanks to Dottie, James, Linda, John, Virginia, Barbara, Larry, and those who helped make our dinners special throughout the 2022.

Special thanks to Shelby County Reserve Officers for being on hand for traffic control. We could not do theses events without you.

Lakeland's Summer Concert Kickoff is Saturday!
Join us June 25, 2022, for the kickoff of Lakeland's Summer Concerts featuring "Formerly Known As." The concerts are part of Lakeland's 2022 Summer Series. Concerts will be held at the new Athletic Complex located at 9661 Memphis-Arlington Rd., due to construction on Canada Rd.
Limited parking is available at the Complex. Shuttle buses will transport concert-goers from Lakeland Elementary School, 10050 Oakseed Ln, to the Complex, starting at 5:30 p.m. All concerts are from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
UPDATE: Food trucks will be MemphisDawgs, Mexico in Memphis, and MisterSoftee.

Lakeland Residents:

Monday, June 20, 2022, is a federal holiday. Lakeland City Hall and all city offices including Lakeland Senior Center will be closed. The trash will run a regular schedule.
