NOW HIRING: POLICE CHIEF

The City of Lakefield, population 1,690, located in Southwest Minnesota, is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for a full-time Police Chief.

Qualifications include:

AA or AS degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or related field
Minnesota POST full-time license
Valid Minnesota Driver’s License, or ability to obtain one
At least five years of experience as a police officer
Supervisory training or employee supervision experience preferred

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills, the ability to maintain effective working relationships with the public and other departments, and the ability to perform duties associated with law enforcement, investigations, and community service functions.

Salary Range: $71,801–$92,185, plus benefits, depending on experience and qualifications.

The Lakefield Police Department consists of the Chief, 2 full-time officers, and 2 part-time officers.

Lakefield City Hall and other municipal departments are closed on Labor Day because it is an official municipal holiday. City offices observe the holiday to allow employees paid time off to celebrate the national day honoring workers. Regular operating hours resume Tuesday September 8th at 7:30 am.
