During this evening's severe weather, our crews responded to a technical rescue incident involving a motor vehicle accident where one of the vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in a ravine in the Village of Algonquin, Illinois.

Due to the challenging terrain, firefighters utilized specialized rope rescue systems to safely access the vehicle and remove the trapped occupants from the vehicle. All patients were successfully extricated and transferred to awaiting EMS personnel for evaluation and transport.

Incidents such as this highlight the extensive training and specialized equipment our members rely on to safely operate in complex rescue environments. We are proud of the professionalism and teamwork displayed by our crews during this challenging operation and thank the members of the Algonquin Police Department, Cary Fire Department, and the incredible folks from Whitey's Towing who assisted us this evening.

As severe weather continues to impact our area, we remind everyone to slow down, use caution on wet roadways, and avoid unnecessary travel during storms.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District is proud to announce that we have been awarded a $19,030 grant through the Illinois State Fire Marshal's 2026 Small Equipment Grant Program.

The grant will be used to replace the District's fleet of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) currently assigned to our Basic Life Support apparatus and several staff vehicles. Many of these units are more than 15 years old. This funding will allow us to place updated, reliable AEDs throughout our fleet and put more lifesaving equipment on the streets of our community.

When a person suffers sudden cardiac arrest, every second counts. Having modern AEDs readily available increases our ability to deliver rapid, effective care and improves the chances of a positive outcome for those experiencing a life-threatening emergency.

The Small Equipment Grant Program awarded $6 million to 260 fire departments, fire protection districts, and EMS providers across Illinois to help agencies purchase critical equipment that may otherwise be difficult to fun and we are fortunate to be one of the two departments in McHenry County to receive a grant.

We would like to thank the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal, State Fire Marshal Michele Pankow, Governor JB Pritzker, and the State of Illinois for their continued investment in public safety and support of first responders.

This grant will help ensure that our firefighters and paramedics have the equipment they need to continue serving and protecting the residents and visitors of Village of Algonquin, Illinois and Village of Lake in the Hills when they need us most.

A huge thank you to the The Salvation Army Crystal Lake Church of McHenry County for stopping by today and treating our crews to donuts in honor of National Donut Day!

The Salvation Army has a long history of supporting first responders, and we are grateful for their continued partnership and generosity. Gestures like this go a long way in brightening the day for our firefighters and paramedics.

The donuts were a big hit, but we're now faced with a new challenge—keeping them safe once our friends at the Algonquin Police Department and Lake in the Hills Police Department hear about them. If history is any indication, we may need to post a guard at the kitchen door.

Thank you again to the Salvation Army for thinking of our crews and for all that you do to support our community.

We are excited to announce the addition of a new Polaris Ranger UTV to our fleet!

This vehicle was obtained through a grant at absolutely no cost to the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District or our residents. We are incredibly grateful for the support that made this acquisition possible.

The Polaris Ranger UTV will significantly enhance our ability to serve the community by providing improved access to the many miles of bike trails throughout the district, supporting operations at brush and wildland fires, and assisting at the numerous community events we participate in each year.

This versatile vehicle will help our personnel reach patients, transport patients and equipment, and operate more efficiently in areas that are difficult for traditional emergency vehicles to access.

Thank you to the grant provider for investing in the safety of our community. We look forward to putting this valuable resource to work in service of the residents and visitors of the Village of Algonquin, Illinois and Village of Lake in the Hills.
