Village of Lake in the Hills The Village of Lake in the Hills is 45 miles northwest of Chicago in McHenry County, with a population of 28,982 as of a 2020 Special Census.

1952, residents and businesses alike have come to Lake in the Hills because of its high quality of life and numerous amenities. The Village offers exceptional services through our highly efficient Police Department, Public Works Department, Community Development Department, municipal water service, and refuse and recycling services. In addition, the Village offers a wide variety of parks and recreation programs designed for families and individuals throughout the year. Lake in the Hills is also home to numerous businesses and services to meet any need. With a number of new businesses locating to Lake in the Hills each year, residents and visitors can expect a greater variety to choose from now and in the years to come. Lake in the Hills has lakes, with Woods Creek Lake being the largest with two swimming areas - Indian Trail Beach and Butch Hagele Beach. Goose Lake, Willow Lake and Lake Scott are all shallow lakes. Goose Lake is utilized mainly for fishing while Willow Lake and Lake Scott are wildlife ponds.

Hands-on science experiments that spark curiosity and discovery.
🎨 Arts & Crafts (Tuesdays, 5:30–6:30pm)
Explore painting, drawing, and more while bringing creativity to life.
🇪🇸 Spanish (Thursdays, 5:30–6:30pm)
Learn Spanish through fun games, songs, and cultural activities.
🤖 Robotics (Mondays, 5:30–6:30pm)
Build and program robots while learning STEM fundamentals.
⚔️ Fencing (Mondays, 6:30–7:30pm)
Develop agility and strategy in this exciting, fast-paced sport.

Celebrate 250 years of American spirit with a splash of patriotic color!
Join us Thursday, June 25 from 12-1:30pm at Sunset Park Shelter for an afternoon of creative tie-dye fun. Bring your own white T-shirt, socks, or pillowcase and transform it into a red, white & blue masterpiece. Don’t have anything to bring? No worries — participants will also tie-dye a beach towel!
