Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry

Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry The Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry serves local residents who are the unemployed

The pantry is actively supported by the villages of Algonquin and Lake in the Hills as well as many area residents. Many wonderful volunteers from these villages and churches comprise the staff that oversees the operation of the pantry; which is open from 9:30 AM until noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. Clients may make selections from a “supermarket” style

set-up which includes the use of shopping carts. A variety of packaged, canned, refrigerated and frozen foods are available. At this time approximately 300 families make use of the facility which was established to supplement short term emergency needs for food.

Please join us for our 2024 GardenWalk on Saturday, July 13! This garden feeds needy families in Algonquin and Lake in the Hills, offering multiple varieties of tomatoes, peppers, and other vegetables on the day they are picked. It works with recipients to grow specific requests when possible. This allows them to try produce they would not normally see, such as bittermelon which can help control diabetes. Please bring a canned good to donate.

It's that 12% that we can help

In 2022, 12.8 percent (17.0 million) of U.S. households were food insecure, meaning they had difficulty at some time during the year providing enough food for all their members because of a lack of resources.
