Tahoe bears have become very comfortable breaking into people’s homes to find the human food they have become accustomed to. Don’t be part of the problem - never leave any food, food wrappers, chewing gum, birdseed, hummingbird nectar or pet food outside your house or in your car. It will get bears killed. Let’s keep our Frazier Mountain bears healthy, wild and alive by making sure they never get even a morsel of human food.

Lake Tahoe's bears in California and Nevada are loved by many, but increasingly they're breaking into homes, often with people inside. Local bear activists act ferociously if their beloved bears are killed.

The butterflies are migrating south for the winter! This beauty is an adult "California Sister" Adelpha bredowii. It is associated with oaks. In our case, that would be canyon live oak. Thanks to our friend and local biologist Lynn Stafford for identifying her.
