*** Announcing new date for leaf vac ***

Leaf vacuuming has moved to the week of March 30. Starting on Monday, trucks will be moving throughout the Village vacuuming curbside leaves.

Only leaves should be raked to within five feet of thecurb. Do not combine yard waste such as grass clippings, with leaves. Keeping leaves away from mailbox posts is recommended to speed pickup.

Seasonal compostables and yard waste pickup will begin on Wednesday April 1. This is on the regular Wednesday refuse collection date. Village-wide pickups resume the following week for both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Got recyclables? The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) is a great resource.

Did you know that the average household in Lake County recycles about 580 pounds of material each year or about 25% of the total waste generated?

SWALCO has made recycling easier and more understandable through its new recycling guidelines. Their goal is to increase these numbers through better education on all the things that can be recycled.

Take a look at the recycling guidelines web page at www.swalco.org/153/Recycling-Guidelines to learn more about what can and can’t go into your curbside bin.

Online person-to-person sales are a simple way to sell unwanted items or buy discounted goods. With a few clicks, a photo and brief description can help your unwanted items find new homes.

Although the majority of sellers and buyers are honest, there are still numerous fraudulent individuals who employ various tactics to extort money from unsuspecting individuals. The Lake Zurich Police Department has issued a warning, emphasizing that even within Lake Zurich, buyers and sellers have been victims of scams.

Safety tips for online sales
Stick with the official communications channel of the online platform.
Review the seller or buyer's profile. Be cautious of a brand new profile.
Confirm the payment method. Avoid overpayment scams or gift cards.
Meet up in a well-lit area, parking lot with cameras or police station.
Inform a friend or family member of your meeting plans.
If the deal sounds to good to be true, it probably is and you should scroll on.
