The lapse of FISA authorities demands immediate attention and action from Congress. The ongoing conflict in Iran, the World Cup, and America 250 celebrations underscore the need for robust national security measures. However, partisan politics has hindered meaningful reform. Washington Democrats' stance on FISA has led to this crisis, putting American families at risk. I strongly support FISA's role in foreign intelligence gathering but insist on warrant requirements for U.S. citizens to safeguard their constitutional rights. The current version of Section 702 poses significant risks to individual liberties. In a recent op-ed, I and fellow representatives outlined the urgent need for reform to align FISA with the nation's founding principles. It is crucial to protect Americans from unwarranted surveillance and ensure transparency in government actions. The fact that three million Americans were surveilled under President Biden, and instances of FISA abuse have affected me and even President Trump, highlights the need for reform. No long-term reauthorization should occur without implementing robust safeguards for U.S. citizens. Congress must reconvene to devise a bipartisan plan that prioritizes national security, transparency, and individual liberties.

In response to the devastating freeze in March, the Florida Freeze Disaster Assistance Act has been introduced to provide $3.5 billion in direct relief to Florida's agriculture community. According to House District 88 candidate William Joseph, 'Florida's farmers and ranchers are among the best in the world, but the recent freeze has taken a toll on them and the agriculture industry as a whole. Given the state's role in feeding families and creating jobs nationwide, it's crucial that we provide support. I'm proud to back this bill alongside my fellow Floridians in the House.' Key provisions of the Act include emergency funding for the USDA, compensation for producers, coverage for damage to trees and vines, and direct assistance to affected counties. On the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, we remember the heroic American soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, fighting against evil and tyranny. My neighbor exemplified bravery, fighting for the freedom and well-being of families worldwide. Like many others, my brother was fortunate enough to return home, but we honor those who were not as fortunate. As your representative, I pledge to work tirelessly to enhance our communities, care for our veterans, and protect the legacy of those who fought for our freedom.
