Day 11 – Learning from Mr. Glen

Some people make a difference without ever asking for recognition. Mr. Glen Rowe was one of those people.

I learned a lot from Mr. Glen over the years. He taught me the importance of being civic-minded, giving back to your community, and helping others simply because it’s the right thing to do. He was always willing to lend a hand, and there are countless people he helped that most will never know about.

Mr. Glen showed me that true service isn’t about recognition—it’s about doing what’s right and making your community a better place. Those lessons have stayed with me, and they continue to influence the way I try to serve others today.

Lake Village made me, and people like Mr. Glen helped shape the person I am.

Day 10 – The Scout Law

A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

These aren’t just words I learned as a Scout—they’re values I’ve tried to carry with me throughout my life. Whether serving my community, running my business, or simply helping a neighbor, these principles have always been a guide.

No one lives them perfectly every day, but they remain the standard I strive toward. They helped shape the person I am, and they continue to influence how I serve others.

Lake Village made me, and Scouting helped shape the values I carry with me today.

Day 9 – Venture, aka Vincent 🐾

One of the best decisions I’ve made was adopting Venture, also known as Vincent, from the Chicot County Humane Shelter right here in Lake Village. Bringing him home reminded me that sometimes the smallest acts of compassion can make a lifelong difference.

Venture quickly became part of the family and a constant companion. Adopting him not only gave him a home, but it also gave me a loyal friend. I’m thankful for the work the Chicot County Humane Shelter does to care for animals and help them find loving homes.

No matter what I’m doing, Venture is usually close by—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Day 8 – The Scout Oath

“On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”

The Scout Oath is more than something I memorized as a young Scout—it’s a set of values that I still carry with me every day. Those words taught me the importance of faith, service, hard work, and helping others. Whether through my business, volunteering, or simply being there for my community, I strive to live by those principles. The uniforms and badges may be in the past, but the lessons and values remain a part of who I am today.

Day 7 – Friday Night Lights Began Here

Football has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My journey started right here in Lake Village, where I played p*e wee football from 3rd through 6th grade. Those early years taught me the value of hard work, teamwork, and perseverance, while creating friendships and memories that have stayed with me ever since.

After p*e wee football, I continued my football career at Saint Joseph Catholic School in Greenville, where I was able to build on the foundation that started in Lake Village. No matter where I played, I always carried with me the lessons and pride that came from wearing “Lake Village” across my chest.

Those who knew me back then know I was a big kid with a big love for football—and that passion for hard work, dedication, and being part of a team has never changed. Lake Village gave me my start, and I’ll always be thankful for that.

Day 6 – Eagle Scout Project

Continuing from yesterday’s post, I wanted to share a few pictures from my Eagle Scout project. As part of my journey to earning the rank of Eagle Scout, I built bat houses for Lake Chicot State Park. This project taught me the value of planning, organization, and leading others toward a common goal.

Earning Eagle Scout was about much more than merit badges and awards. It taught me the importance of service, responsibility, and giving back to the community that helped shape me. Looking back on these pictures reminds me that those lessons have stayed with me and continue to guide how I live and serve today.
