Good evening,

This past Wednesday morning at 6:38a.m., Lake Tomahawk Fire Department was called to a house on Northwoods Drive in Lake Tomahawk for a structure fire; Lake Tomahawk immediately requested mutual aid from Woodruff Fire Department. Upon arrival, Engine 1 found a fully involved basement with flames and smoke shooting out of the walkout door and windows; additional backup was requested.
Unfortunately, the house suffered severe structural damage to the main floor and basement space with the rest of the house receiving heat and smoke damage, likely rendering the building a total loss.
Lake Tomahawk Fire Department would like to thank the following departments for their swift response:
Woodruff Fire Department
Hazelhurst Fire Department
Newbold Fire Department
Little Rice Canteen Unit
Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin
Oneida County EMS- Med 5

If we forgot to mention anyone, please know our gratitude extends to you as well.

Our thoughts go out to the families involved during this difficult time.

Stay safe, friends.

Good morning, friends! This last week, your Lake Tomahawk firefighters performed water movement exercises that entailed establishing a water supply (at Lake Tomahawk boat landing), filling and transporting water to our drop tank and engine at Rainbow Park and, of course, spraying some water! 😊 These exercises are crucial for an efficient and smooth running fire scene in the unfortunate event of a structure fire!

Questions for the kiddos:

-How many gallons do you think our drop tank holds?
-How many gallons do you think our tanker truck holds?

This was one hell of a day.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of what Northwoods Wildland firefighters still call Black Tuesday, a day so intense and so unprecedented, that even now, nothing’s come close to matching

Be safe out there!

*LIVE EVENT* - Communities across Wisconsin are facing a growing shortage of 911 dispatchers, a quiet crisis that affects how quickly help arrives when people need it most.

Local agencies say the challenge is not a lack of dedication, but burnout, limited pipelines and outdated systems that make it harder to recruit and retain qualified dispatchers. As emergency call volumes rise, staffing shortages put increasing strain on those already on the front lines.

Wisconsin Watch is convening a live conversation with industry professionals and educators to examine what is driving the shortage, which changes are making a difference and what local leaders can do to strengthen the 911 workforce statewide.

The free Zoom event takes place Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 12:00 p.m. noon CST and will be moderated by Wisconsin Watch reporter Miranda Dunlap. The discussion will be recorded, with highlights shared publicly following the event.

Registration is free and questions can be submitted in advance.
