Friends of Herb Krohn I’m Herb Krohn and I’m running for the Port of Seattle to bring together labor, business and environmental groups. I am a pro-business labor leader.

I am uniquely well qualified to unite our community. I’m a railroad engineer, elected by my union to represent local rail workers in Olympia. I understand trade, transportation and public safety concerns. I have a long record of advocating for fair, safe working conditions and reasonable pay. I’ve worked to ensure that all trains meet the highest safety standards. The Port of Seattle is one of the

few places left in our region which attracts and supports blue collar, family wage jobs. I’ve fought and will continue to fight to preserve and expand these jobs. Some people want to sell parts of the Port to developers. This would be terrible for taxpayers and a betrayal of the Port’s mission to operate in the public interest. I am a pro-environment labor leader. The Port of Seattle has had a good environmental record, but it can do better. As your commissioner, I’ll work hard to help our Port achieve the best environmental record in the nation. I am a pro-taxpayer labor leader. The Port has done a good job balancing its budget without tax increases. As a fiscal conservative, you can count on me to be a vote for responsible budgets.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

While ballots continue to be counted unfortunately the results are not leaning in my favor. After day three I am still at 20,215 votes, only 7.94%. It has been my pleasure to run for Seattle Port and I am both humbled and honored by all the support I received.

At this time I would like to thank my campaign co-chairs, Bob Watters and Dan McKisson, for their guidance and encouragement during my campaign. I would also like to thank all my donors for supporting and allowing me to address issues that directly affect you personally as well as your organizations.

There are many important issues that face the port and I strongly encourage the candidates moving forward to not dismiss them. In the coming years, the Port of Seattle will face environmental, transportation and especially freight mobility concerns. Along with these there is also the reality of middle class jobs being in jeopardy if these issues are not resolved. You can rest assured I will continue as an activist while advocating for positive resolutions on such critical public policy concerns.

It has been a pleasure being a candidate for the Port of Seattle and I thank you for all your support.
