Not every vehicle transaction requires a notary.

But some vehicle-related paperwork absolutely can.

You may run into documents such as:

• Lien releases
• Duplicate title applications
• Powers of attorney
• Affidavits related to ownership or title issues
• Other documents that specifically require a notarized signature

And when that happens, you don’t necessarily have to rearrange your day to find a notary.

First Choice Notary Svcs. provides mobile appointments throughout the St. Louis and St. Charles area, including evenings and weekends.

For documentation that requires more than a signature.

This is First Choice Notary Svcs.

I built this business around a simple idea:

When the documents matter, the service should match.

Sometimes that means meeting a family at a senior living community. Sometimes it means helping someone navigate the apostille process for documents going overseas. And sometimes it means being available when the signing simply can’t wait.

Whatever brought you to me, my job is to show up prepared, communicate clearly, know my role, and make the process easier.

Because I’m not building First Choice to simply be another notary you find online.

I’m building it to be the name someone gives you when they say, “Call Denise.”

For documentation that requires more than a signature.

“No driver's license. No notarization.”

Not necessarily.

Identification can become complicated, particularly with elderly signers who stopped driving years ago and no longer maintain the identification most of us carry every day.

Missouri law provides more than one method by which a notary may establish a signer's identity, depending on the circumstances and applicable requirements.

That doesn't mean every notary or every business location will be comfortable handling an unusual identification situation.

This is one reason I ask questions before certain appointments.

What identification does the signer have?

Is the signer able to communicate with me?

Are witnesses involved?

Where is the signer located?

The goal isn't simply to show up with a stamp.

It's to determine whether the notarization can be completed properly before everyone gathers around the table.

Before you drive to the bank with Grandma and a 40-page estate planning packet...

Call first.

Seriously.

Your bank may offer notary services, and for many documents, that's a convenient option.

But ask a few questions before you make the trip:

Do they notarize this type of document?

Do you need an appointment?

How many notarizations will they complete?

Can they accommodate the witnesses your documents require?

What identification will the signer need?

And if Grandma is 92, lives in a senior community, uses a wheelchair, or has difficulty signing her name, taking her to the bank may not be the best plan in the first place.

Sometimes you need a notary.

Sometimes you need a notary who comes to you and understands that the signing may not be routine.

There's a difference.

If you're scheduling a notary to meet Mom or Dad in a rehabilitation center, hospital, or senior living community, here's something you may not have considered:

**What time of day are they usually at their best?**

A 10:00 a.m. appointment can be very different from a 3:00 p.m. appointment.

By afternoon, they may have had therapy, medications, lunch, visitors, medical appointments, and multiple interruptions.

They may simply be tired.

That's why I don't automatically ask only, "What time works for everyone?"

I may also ask, "When is your family member usually more active?"

I spent 16 years working in healthcare before starting First Choice Notary Svcs., and that experience comes with me when I walk into these environments.

I understand that the resident comes first.

If we need to wait, we wait.

If they're too tired and the appointment needs to be rescheduled, we reschedule.

And if a question comes up that belongs with the attorney, that's where it goes.

Getting the documents signed matters.

**But so does taking care of the person sitting in front of me.**

First Choice Notary Svcs. provides mobile notary services for clients in homes, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, senior living communities, nursing facilities, and hospice settings throughout St. Charles County and surrounding areas.

A 30-minute senior living signing turned into 90 minutes last week.

Before the appointment, I had explained that the signer would need acceptable identification.

When I arrived, we discovered that the only ID available was an old copy the facility had kept on file. My client was in her 90s and had been living there for more than 10 years, so having a current government-issued ID simply wasn't something the family had thought about.

We worked through that by finding two credible witnesses who could establish her identity.

Then we discovered something else.

She was now too weak to sign her name.

So we had to slow everything down again and work through the requirements for her to sign by mark, along with the witness requirements for her documents.

There were people to find.
Things to explain.
Documents to work through carefully.

And in the middle of all of this was a woman in her 90s who just needed us to make this as easy on her as possible.

So that's what we did.

What was supposed to take 30 minutes took 90.

But we got it done.

Senior living and rehabilitation facility signings don't always go according to plan. You can ask all the right questions beforehand and still arrive to circumstances nobody anticipated.

That's why I don't rush these appointments.

Sometimes the most important thing I can do isn't stamp the document.

It's slow down, figure out what we can legally do, explain what's happening to the family, and help everyone get through the process without making an already stressful situation harder.

That's the kind of mobile notary service I want families to remember when they need someone to come to them.

Some appointments stay with you.

Tonight, I had the privilege of officiating an intimate wedding for a wonderful couple right here in St. Charles County.

They chose to get married at home, surrounded by the people who mattered to them. We kept the ceremony personal, meaningful, and centered on the commitment they were making to one another.

After the ceremony, they invited me to stay for dinner and drinks and celebrate with their family and friends.

That invitation meant a lot to me.

As a wedding officiant, I may arrive as the person performing the ceremony, but for a few moments, I get to be part of one of the most important days in someone’s life.

Congratulations to the newlyweds, and thank you for allowing me to share a few photographs from your special day.

First Choice Notary Svcs. provides wedding officiant services for intimate weddings, home ceremonies, elopements, and simple “make it legal” ceremonies throughout St. Charles County and surrounding communities.

Your child is heading to college. You bought the dorm supplies. But did you handle this?

Turning 18 changes more than most families realize.

Once your child is legally an adult, there may be situations where you can no longer simply step in and make decisions or access information on their behalf even though you're still their parent.

Before they head to campus, this is a good time to consider whether they should have documents such as:

Healthcare Power of Attorney
HIPAA Authorization
Durable Financial Power of Attorney
FERPA Authorization
Advance Healthcare Directive

These aren't documents you want to start thinking about for the first time during an emergency.

An attorney can help determine which documents are appropriate for your family. If the documents require notarization, First Choice Notary Svcs. can come to you.

Because getting them ready for college isn't just about what's going in the dorm room.

It's also about making sure the right things are in place when you're no longer right down the hall.
