Mercy Care for the Adirondacks Mercy Care for the Adirondacks, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, was established in 2007 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Its mission is to enhance in every dimension the fullness of life of Elders living in their community. Mercy Care for the Adirondacks is a 501©(3) nonprofit organization established in 2007 to meet the unmet need to relieve isolation and loneliness of elders living in their communities in the rural Adirondack Mountains. Mercy Care is sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy Institute of the Americas and helps elders age in place more successfully.

A Mercy Care Volunteer may accompany an elder to the grocery store, allowing them to cook at home.

A Mercy Care Volunteer may join an Elder on walks in their neighborhood, helping them to remain physically active and have a fuller life.

A Mercy Care Volunteer may provide transportation to medical appointments, run errands, attend community events and Mercy Care social engagement events.

All these activities, together, empower elders to live more fully, and age in place at home more successfully.

Volunteers provide friendship, companionship, and a helping hand to elders, and help them stay connected to their communities.

Some activities you might do with an elder friend:
* Friendly home visits

* Assistance with shopping
* Running errands
* Friendly phone conversations
* Transportation to appointments and/or events
* Recreational activities: board games, cards, crafts, walking, gardening

Join us at The Mercy Care Garden at Uihlein Farm - A Project of Tablelands Farm!

Despite questionable weather this morning, the garden harvest did not disappoint!

Time and again, our garden brings us together to share fresh veggies, bright flowers, and a joyful spirit.

Today's Harvest:
Fresh Veggies: Kale, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Onions, Green Beans, Carrots, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, and Jalapeno Peppers.

Whether you want to join our group activities, pull weeds, tie up plants, help gather the weekly harvest, or just unwind under the shade tent with refreshments and friends—there is a place for everyone here!

See you next Tuesday, September 15th, 10:00am - 11:30am.

Can you or someone you know benefit from a conversation with a Mercy Care Spiritual Care Companion?

This could be a walk in nature, a listening presence, or sitting/reflecting on a garden bench.

The Spiritual Care Companion Volunteer receives special training to accompany an elder on their spiritual journey who may be experiencing loss, grief, spiritual or physical distress, changing living circumstances, joys or blessings.

Do you know about Mercy Care's iPad Program?

With healthcare, social security and other benefits moving online, many older adults risk being left behind. Mercy Care's iPad Permanent Loan Program combats digital exclusion by providing older adults iPads, and tech support to access vital services.

* Stay connected with community, family, and friends.
* Access telemedicine/healthcare portals, benefits.
* Access entertainment.
* Explore virtual travel experiences and visit museums worldwide.

Participating Elders receive an iPad and one-on-one face-to-face instruction from trained Friendship Volunteers. This program is available to any older adult in the community on a first-come, first-served basis.

Join us at The Mercy Care Garden at Uihlein Farm - A Project of Tablelands Farm!

Another multigenerational day of fun with good friends and horses too!

Once again, our gardeners left with fresh veggies, bright flowers, and a joyful spirit.

Whether you want to join our group activities, pull weeds, tie up plants, help gather the weekly harvest, or just unwind under the shade tent with refreshments and friends—there is a place for everyone here!

Today's Harvest:
Fresh Veggies: Basil, Kale, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Green Beans, Snap Peas, Carrots, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, and Jalapeno Peppers.
Beautiful bouquets and bundles of vegetables went home with gardeners!
