Dr. Nima Motamedi is a gastroenterologist and physician leader at The Oregon Clinic, a physician-led multispecialty practice in Oregon. He serves as Clinical Medical Director for the GI South division and leads The Oregon Clinic's Business Technology Committee, where he helps guide strategy at the intersection of clinical care, technology, and operations. His interests include clinical informatics, artificial intelligence, workflow optimization, and the practical adoption of emerging technologies in healthcare. He is particularly interested in how technology can reduce administrative burden, improve clinician workflows, and enhance patient care while being implemented thoughtfully within complex healthcare organizations.

Panelist Spotlight:

Dr. Dorr earned his BA in Economics (with minors in Mathematics and Psychology) and his MD from Washington University in St. Louis. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency at Oregon Health & Science University and earned a Master's in Medical Informatics and Health Services Administration from the University of Utah. Broadly, Dr. Dorr's interests lie in complex care management, especially for older adults and other at-risk populations, coordination of care, collaborative care, chronic disease management, quality, and the requirements of clinical information systems to support these areas. From these interests, he has broadened into clinical information needs, Electronic Health Record (EHR) deployment and Health Information Exchange as a way to expand systems-based approaches to all of healthcare. He also co-chairs OHSU’s AI Governance Committee and is a founder and co-director for the Center for AI-Enabled Learning Health Sciences (CAILHS). Finally, Dr. Dorr performs evaluations of care management and informatics initiatives using a variety of methodologies. In his spare time, he is an avid bicyclist and completed Cycle Oregon 2016, riding over 450 miles across the southern coast.

Shannon Curtis is the Senior Director of Digital Health Policy at the American Medical Association’s Center for Digital Health and AI, where she leads policy development on digital health with a focus on the regulation and responsible use of artificial intelligence in healthcare. She works with federal and state policymakers to shape regulatory frameworks, legislation, and policies that support the safe, effective, and ethical implementation of AI. Previously, Shannon spent 11 years in the AMA’s Division of Federal Affairs, where she led advocacy on a broad portfolio including drug regulation, pricing, and access, diagnostics policy, vaccine regulation and access, public health preparedness, and provided advocacy support to the CPT Editorial Panel.

On September 1, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) identified the following measles exposure sites:

• Randall Children's Primary Care Clinic, 501 N. Graham St., Suite 250, Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, Medical Office Building 2, Portland, between 1:20 p.m. and 4:11 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 25.

• Randall Children's Hospital Emergency Department waiting room, 2801 N. Gantenbein Ave., Portland, between 3:21 p.m. and 5:23 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28.

• Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center emergency room waiting room and department, 24800 SE Stark St., Gresham, between 10:04 a.m. and 1:49 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 30.

According to the AMA, 95% of physicians reported delays in patients accessing necessary care due to prior authorization. Treatment delays can have serious consequences. Cardiologist Dr. Jerry Kennett shares his experience navigating prior authorization in a video series: “Dealing with prior authorization is just a disaster both for physicians, but more so for the patient. They’re put in situations where they are not sure whether they are going to get their medication, they’re not sure whether they are going to be able to have a test.”
