Have I told you all lately how much I enjoy collaborating with like-minded professionals? Well, I had the pleasure today of presenting with my friend and collaborator, Ashley Gates Krause, with Senior One Source.
We had a nice turnout at the Lake Oswego Adult center as we talked about housing options, senior care, forming a care team, and caregiving. Ashley shows her former teacher skills, knowledge, and caring nature, and the attendees were engaged and attentive with good questions. I added my perspective as a former caregiver and an adviser with Cohen Caregiving Support.
Thanks again, Ashley!

With the passing of Oregon Measure 109, Oregonians will have access to psilocybin therapy. Sean Barnett, LCSW, is a therapist who has used psychedelic integration with his patients. Sean will explain how psilocybin-assisted therapy has the potential to revolutionize many treatment-resistant mental illnesses, including depression, addiction, and PTSD. He will also clarify how psilocybin therapy shows remarkable promise in helping those who may not have a diagnosed mental health disorder, but struggle to find meaning and connection in an increasingly isolated and alienated world.

The Lake Oswego Adult Community Center (ACC), a division of the Parks and Recreation Department, is a nonprofit service and advocacy organization located in the First Addition Neighborhood in Lake Oswego.
It is a multipurpose facility offering recreation, education and social services programs for adults. Established in 1970, it was the first senior center in Clackamas County and is now the third senior center to be awarded National Accreditation.
ACC Vision
Generations of citizens in our community come to the Adult Community Center to have welcoming and transformational experiences. We enrich and excite adults with programs and classes that meet their needs and staff who create positive experiences for all.
ACC Mission Statement
The Center provides citizens ways to enrich their lives.
The National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) supports a national network of over 2,000 senior center professionals dedicated to helping older adults remain active, engaged, and independent in their communities. NISC is setting the standard for the future of senior centers through its cutting-edge research, promising practices, professional development, and advocacy.
NISC also offers the nations only National Senior Center Accreditation Program.
Accreditation provides official recognition that a senior center meets NISC’s nine standards of senior center operations and excellence. The Lake Oswego Adult Community Center becomes the third center in Oregon to receive this honor and the first in the Portland-Metro Area.
National accreditation is the end result of a rigorous examination process including an agency self-assessment and on-site inspection by a peer reviewer from the National Institute of Senior Centers, a division of the National Council on Aging. The accreditation process is a quality assurance program that examines nine different standards and requires community involvement in the self-assessment process.
