12 Years of Climbing. 1,500+ Steps. One Goal.

For over a decade, the Orion Firefighters Association has suited up in 50+ lbs of gear to take on the Fight for Air Climb. On May 3rd, we’re heading to Ford Field to do it all over again!​

As firefighters, we know the value of every breath. We climb for our neighbors with asthma, our loved ones fighting lung cancer, and for the health of our fellow first responders.​ This is one of our favorite traditions, but we can't reach our fundraising goal alone.

Every dollar donated goes directly to the American Lung Association to fund life-saving research and clean air advocacy. Whether it’s $5 or $50, your support keeps us moving up those stairs. Thank you for standing (and climbing) with us over the years!

Thought you all might appreciate some photos and history.

The Orion Fire Fighters Association takes pride in a long legacy of serving our community on and off the clock. Formally established in 1982 when the Lake Orion and Gingellville fire departments merged, our roots go back even further. Firefighters have been helping organize the annual Keatington Santa toy/food drive since 1966, making us active in the area for 60 years!

Present day we:
-Maintain the tradition of Keatington Santa
-Donate to multiple LOHS programs
-Sponsor student scholarships
-Support local Adaptive and Little League teams
-Raise awareness for lung disease in the Fight For Air Climb (we have 13 members climbing ford field in 60+ lbs of full gear!)
-Help our displaced residents after a house fire
-Have an ambitious new goal of donating to Great Lakes Burn Camp
-Host a phenomenal golf outing fundraiser (Sept. 10th, See our page)

We take immense pride in the attitude of service left by the firefighters before us, and ​we remain dedicated to showing up for our neighbors with the same charitable spirit.

Have you heard about the Orion Firefighters Association? We are an active charity dedicated to supporting community needs and causes close to us as firefighters. From supporting our local youth to helping families during tough times, here is a look at what we do:

​Youth & Education: We sponsor Little League and Adaptive Baseball teams, donate to LOHS programs, and provide scholarships for students pursuing careers in Emergency Services.

​Neighbor to Neighbor: We provide direct assistance to residents following a house fire and participate in the annual "Shop with a Hero" event.

​Health & Wellness: We participate in the American Lung Association’s "Fight for Air Climb" and support local firefighters who are injured or in need.

​We’re proud to serve Orion in more ways than one. Keep an eye on our page for updates on how we’re getting involved!

Orion Firefighters Association is proud to work alongside the Keatington Homeowners Association to continue the tradition of helping give back to our community by working with local residents in the Keatington subdivision and collecting donations for people in need in our community. If Santa himself can make time in his busy holiday schedule, we'll make sure we're there lending a helping hand. This tradition has been going on for over 50 years!
