What an Amazing First Week of Camp!

Our campers kicked off the summer with a week full of fun, friendship, and adventure! From icebreaker games and relay races to exploring the pool and learning camp songs, there was never a dull moment.

This week campers got creative by making music with natural outdoor materials, building their own Popsicle Stick Catapults, and showing off their camp spirit during Crazy Hair Day, Crazy Sock Day, and Wacky Wednesday!

To top it all off, we wrapped up the week with a field trip to Blake's Cider Mill, where campers enjoyed strawberry picking and making sweet summer memories together.

We can't wait to see what adventures next week brings! Thank you to all of our campers, families, and staff for helping make the first week of camp such a success.

We're excited to introduce Fit For All, a specialized small-group fitness program designed for teens and young adults with disabilities who are looking to build strength, improve mobility, and gain confidence in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Led by instructor Caitie Reed, this 6-week program focuses on foundational fitness skills, proper technique, balance, and functional movement. Whether you're new to the weight room or looking to expand your fitness knowledge, each workout is tailored to meet participants where they are and help them reach their personal goals.

This is more than just a workout—it's an opportunity to build confidence, make connections, and discover what you're capable of in a welcoming community setting.

This week on , we're featuring one of the coolest birds in our wetlands—the Green Heron! Watch as this stealthy hunter enjoys a little fish snack, struts through the shallows, and patiently searches for its next meal.

Don't let their small size fool you, Green Herons are skilled predators and some of the most intelligent birds you'll find in Michigan. They are one of the few bird species known to use tools, sometimes dropping feathers, insects, or small twigs onto the water's surface to lure curious fish within striking distance.

As seen in the video, Green Herons also have an incredible secret weapon: their neck! When relaxed, they often appear short and stocky, but in an instant they can extend their neck with lightning-fast speed to sn**ch unsuspecting prey. This gives them a bit of a "jack-in-the-box" effect when hunting.

Unlike larger herons that often gather in groups, Green Herons tend to be more solitary and are masters of patience, standing perfectly still before making their move.

Whether they're fishing, strutting, or showing off their amazing hunting skills, Green Herons are always a treat to spot in Orion Township's wetlands.
