Please join Mountains Branch Library and Dr. Heckert from Appalachian State University for very interesting stories of a variety of Triassic animals, including early dinosaurs. Dr. Heckert and his team have discovered ancient venomous reptiles from North Carolina, fossil freshwater sharks (I KNEW THERE WERE SHARKS IN LAKES BUT Y'ALL TOLD ME THERE WERE NOT!!!!!!!!), armored armadillo-like animals call aetosaurs, and more.

This program is appropriate for all ages. No registration is required.

We will see you at 6:00 pm on Friday, June 26th!

📙 Friends of the Mountains Branch Library invite you to join us and welcome Meg Waite Clayton to Books & Bites 2026.

📙 Meg will meet with us at La Strada on Wednesday, July 8th at 11:30am. The $30 cost includes lunch, a meet and greet with the author, and a time to listen to her talk about her newest work.

📙 Reservations are required and can be made by calling Mountains Branch Library at 828-287-6392. We are now able to take credit/debit payment over the phone.

📙 If you are planning to purchase “Typewriter Beach,” we kindly ask that you consider purchasing the book at the event. Book purchases help ensure that we can continue having these amazing authors in Lake Lure!

I hope we will see you all Monday at POPS in Forest City for the 2026 Summer Reading Kickoff PARTY!!!

POPS is located at: 153 Park Square Circle, Forest City, NC

You can sign up for Summer Reading, visit on the libraries, see Marcie the Balloon Fairy (and maybe even get a balloon animal), eat lunch from one of the Food Trucks, and play on the Splash Pad. What more can you ask for on a summer day?
