Rules allow the council to appoint someone to fill the vacancy until the next election in 10 months. At the last council meeting, the process of finding a replacement began. FREE CHLORINE WATER CONVERSION BEGINS TODAY | The City of Lake Jackson with the Brazosport Water Authority and surrounding cities will begin today the bi-annual water disinfectant process called the "free chlorine conversion." This best practice process has been done twice a year for more than 10 years. It will begin today and continue until June 22.
During this time, the water may taste different and become discolored, but it will continue to be safe to drink and use. If it becomes discolored, you should do the following:
 Run your faucets, toilets and bath until it becomes clear.
 Check your washer water BEFORE you wash your clothes.
 Run a little water in a bathtub to check for discoloration. If the bath water runs clear, you can wash your clothes. You can always choose not to wash your clothes during the flushing period.
We have an educational page to tell you more. Please visit it here, and thank you for your patience as we work to bring you safe, clean water: https://lakejackson-tx.gov/797/Free-Chlorine-Conversion
