Boo is back on the Job as Property Manager!

He was poisoned and had neurological problems for several months... either rat poisoning or a blue skink.

If it was rat poisoning, he was lucky to recover! People please don't use rat poisoning! It's poisonous to birds of prey and other wildlife as well.

Despite its ethereal common name and popularity in landscaping, Heavenly bamboo (Nandina domestica) is not a good choice for Florida yards! This invasive plant has escaped cultivation and forms dense thickets in natural areas, displacing native vegetation. It has also been implicated in the deaths of Cedar waxwings that consumed too many berries. Consider instead our native Yaupon holly (Ilex vomitoria), which has numerous wildlife benefits including providing beautiful and healthy red berries for the birds.

Chinese wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) is a beautiful and iconic staple of Southern landscapes. Unfortunately, it has escaped cultivation and can alter native plant communities by shading out and girdling native plants. Our native American wisteria (Wisteria frutescens) is a much better choice, and it serves as a larval host plant for 15 butterfly and moth species!
