🌟 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗮𝘀𝘂 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 | 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 🌟

We kicked off the meeting with the introduction of guests, including those who joined us through Becky and Stephanie. It was also a pleasure to hear from the Interact Club, who introduced their new President and Secretary/Treasurer for the next school year. Congratulations to these young leaders as they prepare to serve their school and community!

📅 Upcoming Rotary Events:

• Health Fair – July 18th

Our featured speaker was Judge K, who provided an insightful update on the Veterans Court program. Serving as a judge for 15 years, Judge K shared the remarkable success of this specialized court, which has been serving Lake Havasu City for 13 years. As the third Veterans Court established in Arizona and the first in a rural community, it continues to make a meaningful impact by helping prisoners address substance abuse, mental health challenges, and other obstacles through rehabilitation and support.

One of the most inspiring aspects of the program is that many graduates remain involved as mentors, helping guide others through the process. Strong support from community members, city leaders, and legal professionals continues to contribute to the program’s long-term success.

🌟 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 | 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 🌟

We had a wonderful and lively meeting filled with guests, updates, and exciting community news!

President Becky opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and introducing our guests, including a very special little attendee, Taylor’s 14-month-old Sammy, who was a very good boy and stole a few hearts in the room. 💙

📍 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲
We’ll be gathering at Makai for our summer months (June through August), with members ordering directly from the menu. Plans are also underway for the Installation Dinner, which Becky and Cameron are organizing at The Back Nine, expected this June.

🎓 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Sam hosted our Student of the Month segment and proudly introduced our student representative from Calvary.

🏞️ 𝗟𝗛𝗖 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 & 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲
Marcus from LHC Parks & Recreation shared appreciation for our club’s donation toward the Teen Break event Jet Ski and provided updates on a busy and impactful year. Highlights included a successful Teen Break 2026, Truck-a-Palooza, and upcoming Summer Camps.

He also shared ongoing programs and initiatives:

* They are in their 27th year of Kinderswim. Water safety classes will be offered to kindergarten, 3rd grade, and 5th grade students, some through state-funded grants.
* They still offer Flag football through the NFL Flag program. An 8-week program from January through February.
* They have cooking classes for adults, which have been successful.
* Junior Suns will be kicking off this weekend at Thunderbolt for 6-12 year olds for Basketball.

♿ 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
Cameron led a Q&A with Anthony from the department, covering planned upgrades at Rotary Park, including:

* Shade structures or canopies and dugout improvements
* Adaptive play center upgrades to improve wheelchair accessibility
* Potential club “Day of Service” volunteer project at the park
* Continued discussion on updating previously donated workout equipment
* Community survey coming out soon to help prioritize improvements (wheelchair accessibility was a top request)

💡 A great reminder was shared about how meaningful Teen Break has been for past generations and how it could inspire future ideas.

The Lake Havasu Rotary Club is excited to announce that our Monday meetings this summer will be held at Makai Cafe from June 1st through August 31st, 2026. ☀️

✨ 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 | 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 ✨

President Becky kicked off the meeting with a moment of gratitude led by Taylor. 💙 Cameron shared how Rotary relationships continue to bring support, collaboration, and meaningful connections into his life.

🎉 Andy celebrated his 23-year anniversary and expressed heartfelt gratitude for his amazing family.

🎂 Ginny shared a special family celebration as they honored her daughter’s 14th birthday and her mom’s 74th birthday together. A beautiful reminder of the importance of family and togetherness!

📣 Community Updates:
• President Becky encouraged members to help showcase how incredible our city is through District swag opportunities.
• Andrea announced the Chamber’s upcoming Teacher Appreciation Dinner and their search for gift baskets.
• Chamber members are also encouraged to submit nominations online for the Annual Community Member Awards.

🌵 Dan Delasantos with Kids on the River shared exciting updates on the program’s growth! What began as a 7th-grade lake education program has now expanded to include a Desert Program for 8th graders.

Students especially enjoyed learning about:
🐴 Local donkeys
🥾 Hiking and desert exploration
💀 Skull identification
🚑 Emergency rescue procedures and the emergency center

📅 Mark your calendars! On May 3rd, the new “Community Day” event will take place from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Aquatic Center. This free event will feature educational programs for both students and adults, plus lunch will be provided!

😂 Taylor wrapped things up as Sergeant-at-Arms, collecting happy bucks and out-of-town travel fines, all helping fund future Rotary social gatherings.

2026 Havasu BalloonFest Charity Recipients.
Since 2011, the Havasu Balloonfest has grown to the biggest donor of charitable funds to many local organizations. The annual January Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair started with the cooperation of the local Rotary Clubs and Lions Clubs, and has about 1200-1500 volunteers EACH YEAR!

✨ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲! 🌎

Becky kicked off the meeting by having Taylor come up and share how we are going to change the structure of our meetings. Setting the tone for fresh energy ahead.

We also celebrated an incredible Earth Day weekend! From highways and streets to the desert and the lake, volunteers came together to clean up and care for our community. It was truly inspiring to see so many people show up and make an impact! 💚

The conversation continued with gratitude about how special our community is, from how many were involved in our Rotary clean up, the Calvary Church Serve Our Schools, and the Sunrise Rotary Club Easter Egg Hunt!

We also heard important announcements, including a raffle initiative to support kids who need help with tournament entry fees. Such a meaningful cause! 🎟️

A highlight of the meeting was guest speaker Charlie Tegarden, who introduced the Rotary Vocational Fund. It is a 501C3 organization, run by volunteers in all of Arizona. They do vocational education grants for the working poor, who want to better their lives through vocational education, like nursing, computer science, or mechanics. 🙌

Community colleges or Trade-schools recommend individuals for the grant. The individuals get interviewed by the Rotary Club first to ensure they will qualify for the grant. This program makes quick decisions to get students rolling in their education. Eligibility includes being 18 yrs or older, living in Arizona, in secondary school, and involved in the local Rotary Club. Any non-4-year program qualifies. The $2,000 grant pays for what the school charges the student, which goes directly to the school. They do not pay for any personal costs. Starts with a Financial Aid application, then an online application with the TRVFA website. The funding comes from the Arizona Tax Credit, individual donations, Rotary Club Donations, and Corporate donations. The Tax Credit Code 20698 on the Arizona Tax Credit Form 321.

To wrap things up, Taylor brought the fun as the Sergeant-at-Arms, keeping things lively (and slightly competitive!) by collecting fines to support our social events. He did fine, President Becky, for starting the meeting at 12:04 instead of 12:05, and all of us who volunteered to be fined. 😂

Here are some snapshots from our Earth Day 2026 Community-Wide Cleanup last March 28, and we couldn’t be more proud of this amazing community! 🙌

Lake Havasu City Rotary – Annual Christmas Dinner Project
Each year, Lake Havasu City Rotary proudly participates in serving our community by donating turkeys to support Christmas dinner for local families.

This year, we’re excited to be joined by our fellow service clubs:

Together, we continue the tradition of giving back, spreading holiday cheer, and supporting those who need it most.
