August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day. It is a day to remember those lost to overdose, support those who carry their memory, and take action to prevent future loss.

This year’s theme, “25 Years On. Still Needed.” reminds us how far we have come and how much work remains.

Lake County is proud to recognize this important day and reaffirm our commitment to using opioid settlement dollars to fund prevention, treatment and harm reduction programs while promoting recovery and reducing stigma.

Today, we remember those in the community we have lost, stand with those impacted, and continue working toward a future where fewer lives are lost to overdose.

Overdose is preventable. Recovery is possible. Every life matters. 💜
