🚫 Seriously, Lake City? 🚫

This is what our park restrooms looked like after recent vandalism and abuse.

Broken toilet seats. Trash scattered everywhere. Glass bottles left behind. Filth that someone else has to clean up.

These restrooms are a public amenity paid for and maintained by the taxpayers of Lake City. Every time they are damaged, city staff must spend time and resources cleaning up messes and making repairs instead of working on other projects that benefit the community.

What's especially frustrating is that while this is happening, the City and generous volunteers are actively investing in improving our parks. We are adding a new ball diamond, painting playground equipment, and developing new pickleball and volleyball courts to create better recreational opportunities for everyone. Vandalism like this directly undermines those efforts and diverts resources away from projects that make our community better.

It's disappointing, unnecessary, and completely unacceptable.

If this behavior continues, we may have to consider additional measures, including increased monitoring or restricted access to facilities. Nobody wants that, but the current situation cannot continue.

Our parks belong to all of us. Take pride in them. Respect them.

Help us protect the investments being made for current and future generations.

If you witness vandalism or know who is responsible, please contact City Hall or local law enforcement.

Do better, Lake City.

🌳 COMMUNITY REQUEST 🌳

The City of Lake City is continuing its tree planting efforts throughout the community and could use your help!

We are in need of more than 100 fence posts to help support newly planted trees. If you have any old, unused fence posts sitting around your property that you no longer need, please consider donating them to the City.

Donated posts do not need to be new—used posts in serviceable condition would be greatly appreciated and put to good use helping our trees get established and thrive.

If you have posts available or would like more information, please contact City Hall.

Please note: The pickleball courts are reserved for the city pickleball league throughout the month of June. Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:15-8:00 PM

05/28/2026

Starting on Friday, May 29th, crews will begin planting trees along Main Street in the marked locations. Residents and motorists should expect increased traffic and activity in the area during the work.

Please use caution when traveling through the area and help keep our crews safe. Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve and beautify our community!
