Consistent with the purpose of this Limited Public Forum, First Amendment principles, the Georgia Open Records Act, and guidance from the Office of the Georgia Attorney General, the Lake City Police Department moderates all content posted on social media pages managed by the Lake City Police Department. As such, we may restrict or remove comments or posts that contain:

▪️Commercial advertisements or solicitations
▪️Spam of any kind to include excessive posting of the same content
▪️Links to websites that may be offensive or inappropriate
▪️Any information not subject to release under Georgia open record laws
▪️Content that suggests, encourages, or promotes violent or illegal activity
▪️Information that might compromise investigative integrity or the safety and security of members of the department or the public
▪️Information that violates the legal ownership, interest of another party, infringes on copyrights, trademarks, or intellectual property
▪️Threats or language that is discriminatory, obscene, hateful, profane, or otherwise abusive
▪️Content that is defamatory or otherwise harmful to the reputation of an identifiable person or organization
▪️Off-topic, repetitive, copy-and-pasted, or automated posts
▪️Promotion or endorsement of political candidates, campaigns, or partisan electioneering
▪️Personal identifying information, including (but not limited to) identification numbers, phone numbers, email addresses, or home addresses
We fully support every individual’s right to free speech and do not intend to limit lawful expression. However, the categories listed above go beyond the intended purpose of LCPD’s social media platforms and may disrupt productive conversation or raise safety and legal issues.
