PUBLIC NOTICE: Power Outage in Ball Flats
Power is out for most of the ball flats area due to a power pole on Hothckiss near the wastewater treatment plant being struck by a dump truck. GCEA has a repair crew on the way from Gunnison. GCEA repair crew is expected to arrive within the next 1 to 2 hours.

Town of Lake City Code Violation Notice Reminder

The Town of Lake City would like to remind property owners who have received a Notice of Code Violation that corrective action must be completed within 30 days from the date of the notice.

If additional time is needed, the property owner must submit a request to extend the deadline before the 30-day period expires. Extensions may be granted up to a maximum of 180 days from the date of the original notice.

The 30-day period to take corrective action for the notices mailed on May 22nd, 2026, EXPIRES ON JUNE 22ND, 2026. NEXT MONDAY.

If no extension request is made and the violation has not been corrected within the 30-day period, the Town will issue a citation to the property owner, including a $150 fine that requires corrective action be taken within 7 days with no option for an extension.

Property owners with questions about their notice or who would like to request an extension must contact Town Hall as soon as possible at 970-944-2333 or by email at

If you have already taken the corrective action as described in the notice, then please call Town Hall or email the town manager to schedule an inspection.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Change of Hours for Metal Junk Cleanup
Metal Junk Cleanup Sunday 6/14/26
For: Town of Lake City Residents
Location: Lots North of the Medical Center on Henson Street
Time: 9:00am to Noon

Due to receiving over 90+ yards of Metal Junk on Saturday and needing to wait on Reclametals to pick up the full 30 yard roll off and bring another one, we will not be taking any more metal junk after noon today.

Yesterday we received:
10 Snow Mobiles
12 Lawn Mowers and 2 Riding Lawnmowers
60 Car Batteries
12+ Washers and Dryers
3 Stoves
20 + Refridgerators and Freezers
20 + Water Heaters
Several Grills
And about 40+ Yards of Scrap Metal
1 Boat
1 Canoe
1 Trailer

The Town of Lake City is hosting a community potluck picnic August 1st to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Colorado! Please join us for a fun filled day starting at 10am with a performance by the Red Sky Drum Group followed by food, games, prizes, raffle, beer garden and more ! The Town will provide burgers and hot dogs for the community potluck picnic. If anyone would like to provide a dish for the picnic please respond to this post and let us know what you’ll be bringing!
