About our Event
Rural county and municipal fire fighters are faced with situations that larger communities and departments are not. In large areas when a major incident occurs there are many units responding with enough personnel to handle the situation. Smaller and rural areas have a limited amount of responding units with a limited amount of personnel. They must adapt to do the same job as the large departments with less funding, equipment and personnel. 3rd Alarm Public Safety Training has partnered with Columbia County Fire Rescue to bring a cost-effective training event targeting rural and small community firefighters with a curriculum based on everyday situations they all face.
The North Florida Burner is designed to bring together rural firefighters for a two day H.O.T (hands on training) program that is affordable and educational. Some of the topics planned to cover are: Truck Operations for the Rural Engine Company, Rapid Intervention Team / Firefighter Survival, Transitional and Positive Pressure Fire Attack, and Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search.
During day 1 of the event there will be a “Chiefs Round Table,” which will allow for area department supervisors and Chiefs to network, as well as discussions with special guest speakers on topics that are currently at the forefront of Fire Departments all over the country (firefighter PTSD, firefighter cancer, personnel retention/training, etc.)
