CHS FLORIDA HURRICANE RELIEF... Earlier this year, CHS formed a relationship with the Student Government from A. Crawford Mosley High School from Lynn Haven, Florida, and have been in touch with them since a couple days after the hurricane. As you know, many in Bay and it's surrounding counties were hit hard by Hurricane Michael, and will spend many months ahead rebuilding. GOOD NEWS!! Mosley High School will re-open tomorrow, Monday, November 5. They will have a shortened school day, with breakfast and lunch provided, but are still in need of relief. There are many things to think about for the people there and the surrounding area....Some families were financially suffering before Hurricane Michael, but are worse off now. With the loss of open businesses in the area, some do not have jobs to go back to work. Lack of available cash flow means business is slow for stores that are open. CHS has opened a Florida Hurricane Relief account on the Columbia County Website for monetary donations via credit card. All funds donated will purchase gift cards to be used at local stores in the affected areas, helping the families and boost the economy. The gift cards will be given directly to school Advisers and Counselors to disperse to the most needy families. Even though we are speaking directly with Mosley High School, we are working to help other schools in the area, too. If you would like to make a donation using cash or check instead of a credit card, you may drop your donation off with the Bookkeeper or Front Office Staff of Columbia High School.
It has almost been 4 weeks since the hurricane, the residents of the Panhandle are still suffering, and will continue for many months. They are beginning to worry we will forget about them as more time passes, so let's work together to show our continued support for their families.
The website for donation is:
