Chief Malone dedicated his life to service, leadership, and the safety of others. His commitment to his community and his department leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.

During this difficult time, my thoughts and prayers are with his family, the South Lynches Fire Department, and all who had the honor of knowing and working alongside him. May God grant you strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead.

I am very saddened to hear about the passing of such a sweet, beautiful person. Ms. Helen Gaston was a very hardworking, compassionate woman of our great community. I pray that God keeps her family, the Walmart family, and our entire community comforted during this time of sorrow. She will be greatly missed!

Florence County! We have some exciting news to share! Starting Monday, August 11, all our routes in Florence County are officially FARE FREE!

Huge thanks to Florence County for making this possible and helping us move toward a more accessible and connected community.

This decision will stop wasteful spending on an outdated fare systems and redirect dollars to where they matter most: more reliable buses, better service and expanded access to jobs, healthcare and opportunity.

The majority of our funding comes from federal dollars but only when matched locally. With this investment, Florence County helps unlock more of that funding and expands service without raising costs. This is conservative budgeting with real community impact!
