“We are thrilled to bring the jaw-dropping excitement of a world class air show to the people of Louisiana,” said Herb Gillen, president of Herb Gillen Airshows, producers of the event. “Over the coming weeks, we will be announcing a lineup of performers that will make Thunder Over Louisiana one of the must-see events of the summer.”
Kevin Melton, executive director of Chennault International Airport Authority, added, “We cannot wait to showcase the power, precision, and technological wonder of some of the world’s foremost aircraft and pilots. Southwest Louisiana deserves an air show, and we are excited to bring it to our community on Chennault International Airport’s 40-year anniversary. Buckle up Louisiana, because Thunder Over Louisiana will be an event that must be seen to be believed.”
The inaugural Thunder Over Louisiana is a central part of the celebration around Chennault International Airport’s 40th anniversary in 2026, as the community commemorates the airport’s economic success and salutes its decades-long military heritage. Chennault, a former air base, had strategic military importance during World War II and the Cold War.
