The Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office is always available to you, the people of Calcasieu Parish. Currently, the District Attorney's Office employs over 100 people who are ready, willing, and able to assist you. This website was put together in an effort to inform the community of the many programs we utilize and the methods we employ to help reduce the crime rate. We prosecute to the fullest extent when deemed necessary. This includes the prosecution of violent offenders and repeat offenders. We also strive to reach first offenders of non-violent crimes who go astray. It is important, if possible, to help them realize their mistakes and point them in the right direction. One of our main goals is to save our youth and offer positive reinforcement. When making decisions, we have the best interest of the community in mind. We are constantly at work for you and dedicate ourselves to the improvement of our community. We invite you to call the District Attorney's Office for assistance or to offer input and/or suggestions to help us better serve you.

GRANGER SENTENCED TO 120 YEARS FOR S*X CRIMES

On Friday, September 11th, Judge David Ritchie sentenced Gladu Granger 57, Lake Charles, to 50 years in prison at hard labor on each of the two (2) counts of Sexual Battery of a Victim Under Thirteen; and 20 years in prison at hard labor on a charge of Po*******hy Involving Juveniles. The sentence for the Po*******hy Involving Juveniles is to run consecutively to the Sexual Battery sentences, which are to run consecutively to one another.

In 2023, Granger inappropriately touched two victims, who were five years old at the time of the crimes. Granger would also film both victims and ma******te Infront of them.

Deputy Chief of Litigation Taylor Alexander and Assistant District Attorneys Jordan Sutterfield and Katera Jenkins prosecuted the case for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.

Yesterday evening, District Attorney Stephen Dwight was honored to be a guest speaker alongside Sheriff Stitch Guillory at the Red, White & Bayou Republican Women event.

We are especially grateful for the generous donation of stuffed animals, which will be given to children who are victims of crime. These small gestures of comfort can make a meaningful difference for children navigating an incredibly difficult experience.

Thank you to Republican Women for their continued support of our community and for helping us provide comfort to children when they need it most.

Today our office celebrated DOLLY DAY!

With September being National International Literacy Month, our office celebrated the life and legacy of Dolly Parton by bringing new and gently used children’s books that will be donated to the Junior League of Lake Charles Reader Feeder program.

Our goal was to collect 80 books to celebrate 80 years of song, kindness, and inspiration from Dolly Parton and we collected well over our goal.
