🌿 Great News for Shields Township! 🌿

We’re proud to share that the Talbot Avenue Drainage Improvement Project in Shields Township has received the 2025 Green Ribbon Award from the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission.

This important project helps improve stormwater drainage in the area while using environmentally friendly design. By uncovering and expanding part of the storm sewer channel and adding native plants, the project increases flood storage capacity, helps reduce downstream flooding, and creates habitat for pollinators.

Projects like this show how smart infrastructure improvements can protect both our residents and our natural environment.

Thank you to all the agencies and partners who helped make this project possible!

Did you know we offer temporary handicap parking placards for residents recovering from surgery or dealing with short-term medical conditions?

✔️ Valid for up to 90 days
✔️ FREE for Shields Township residents
✔️ Simple process — just provide a doctor’s note or stop by and we can print the required form for your physician to complete

If you or a loved one has an upcoming surgery or temporary medical need, we’re happy to assist. Please feel free to call or stop into the Township office for more information.
