Over the past week, we have received calls from several people who have received "text messages" from an out of the area phone number telling them they need to pay an unpaid citation to avoid getting their licenses suspended.

-The Michigan Secretary of State WILL NOT text you in reference to an unpaid ticket. Think back, Did you get a ticket and give an officer you phone number? Probably not.
-DO NOT click on the link to pay online. This link will most likely harvest your personal information and banking information for FRAUDULENT purposes.
-If you may have an unpaid ticket that you need to take care of and are concerned, please contact the district court in the jurisdiction where you received the citation to take care of it.
- And as always, NEVER go buy gift cards to pay any kind of "debt" someone is trying to get you to pay over the phone. That is a sure sign of a scam.

If you are unsure, always play it safe and contact your local authorities with any questions.

Broadband Update –

Based on the responses from our last Township survey, as well as the goals of our 5-year plan, The Victor Township Planning Commission has been diligently working on bringing fast, affordable, and reliable broadband internet access to all corners of Victor Township. The PC is pleased to report that Fiber cables are currently being installed throughout the Township and will provide many of the homes in our area with very fast internet in the coming years. Unfortunately, some homes in the Township (Especially those in more remote stretches) may not be getting fiber connectivity; In these cases, the PC is recommending the homes utilize Starlink Satellite internet, or a cellular solution provided by T-Mobile or Verizon. Planning Commissioner Dave Sell is happy to offer advice or answer questions regarding options for those homes that may not be covered by fiber, you can reach him at 517-202-1079.
