BTW, that's 🚫 not a rouge 🌊 wave.

That's a normal set wave with a rising S swell & the incoming tide. The rock ledge is already wet. That means waves have been there before & will be there again when the sets roll in approx every 10 - 15 min. If the surf is larger than normal, well overhead & or already high tide, then the sets may be fewer & farther in-between & come in every 15 - 20 min. My πŸ‘‰ Point is, people who don't know, mainly tourist, walk up to a coastline, πŸ™ˆ see it's flat or small in-between the sets & want to get that selfie. They don't have a clue on how the ocean works & don't read the ⚠️ warning signs that are posted. Then they also πŸ€™call it a rouge wave, when it's just a normal set wave & or coming in with the incoming high tide push. That's why most surfers prefer to surf with the incoming tide, if they have a choice. When the tide is already high, there's usually longer waits in-between the sets, that are referred to as high tide lulls. Anyway, this woman got away lucky, with πŸ€” maybe some scrapes, bruises, a lost cell phone & a wet πŸŽ’ backpack. Lesson learned, read warning signs, stay off wet rocks, ledges & do your aquatic activities in a lifeguarded area whenever possible.

πŸ‘ Good job ! Surfer to the πŸ›Ÿ rescue.
