Laguna Woods Democratic Club

Laguna Woods Democratic Club Welcome to the page of the Laguna Woods Democratic Club! Most meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of the month, at 7 pm in Clubhouse 2.

Write [email protected] for gate clearance or email listing.bsky.social Laguna Woods Democratic Club serves as the meeting and gathering place for registered Democrats and friends of the Democratic Party in the community of Laguna Woods Village, a senior community of 18,000 residents. We encourage membership and participation from other communities. There are no age or residency requirements to become an LWDC member. Besides regular monthly meetings, we host social and charitable activities throughout the year. There are countless volunteer opportunities for voter registration, Getting Out the Vote, postcard writing, phone call workshops, and food drives for our primary service project, South County Outreach charity in Lake Forest. The purpose of the Club is to stimulate greater interest in government affairs, to further the ideals and principles of the Democratic Party, to increase Democratic Party registration and turnout, and to elect Democratic candidates who will truly support the United States Constitution and work for the highest degree of economic and social justice and welfare for all people. We educate the community about the role government plays and its effect. We study issues and work to influence public policy through letters, petitions and phone calls to local, state and federal elected officials. We promote Democratic values through our involvement in local communities and through the volunteerism of our members.

Mary’s Weekly Update
LET’S GET READY

I can’t remember an election since 2018 when the battle cry hasn’t been ‘this is the most important election of our lifetime’. Well, that’s never been more than true right now. Our hearts and heads and democracy cannot endure the chaos around us too much longer.
This election is probably the most important battle in our fight to begin to stop the crazy. And we will stop it if we all vote. It’s time for us to get serious about having a plan to vote and then to vote.

We are planning to make sure everyone has all the information and support needed to make sure they receive a ballot, a way to deliver that ballot and confirmation that it was counted. We will provide that information on our Voter Guide door hanger and in these weekly emails. Your job is to make sure you and everyone you know vote.

Meanwhile…

The Trump administration is moving to allow married couples with a stay-at-home spouse to collect child care subsidies using funds from a federal program intended to assist working parents, according to people familiar with the plan. The change would be one of the most significant efforts to date by the administration to harness federal funds to promote a traditional view of families. https://nyti.ms/3UuBJqX

This Labor Day, I’m proud to stand with the workers and unions who have stood with our campaign.

Having the support of teachers, nurses, construction workers, public employees, hospitality workers, and so many others is a huge honor that I do not take lightly. These are the people who keep our communities running every day.

We are always stronger when we stand together, and I’ll always stand with working people. And remember, when we fight, we win. Happy Labor Day weekend!
