Whether it’s drinking water, recycled water, or wastewater, it’s H20, and South Coast Water District manages this vital resource for the public in an effective and comprehensive way as local government agency. South Coast Water District answers to its owners — the residents and businesses it serves in Dana Point, South Laguna, and areas of San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano. A five-member elected Board of Directors oversees policy-making, financial stewardship, rate-setting, capital programs, and long-term planning for the District. The General Manager reports to the Board and leads the organization in the planning and implementation of District priorities set by the Board.

This morning, SCWD welcomed back U.S. Bureau of Reclamation representative Alex Soubannarath and our grants consultant, Joey Soto, for our annual Doheny Ocean Desalination Project progress update.

As a recipient of grant funding through USBR’s water infrastructure program, SCWD provides annual project updates to highlight important milestones and share the latest developments. During the visit, SCWD Engineering Director Taryn Kjolsing discussed the District’s continued work to develop a reliable, local, drought-proof water supply for South Orange County.

Trash bags full, hearts even fuller 💙
Last week, SCWD staff came together at Aliso Beach in Laguna Beach for our annual Beach Clean-Up and removed 51 pounds of trash from our local coastline. Every piece picked up helps protect our ocean, beaches, and the beautiful community we’re proud to serve 🌊

🔹 Fitch cited our "very strong" financial profile, including reserves equal to more than two years of operating expenses. If a major emergency struck tomorrow, we could keep water flowing without interruption.
