Maria has spent 30 years working in clean energy, helping advance sustainable solutions and contributing to a more responsible energy future. As she approaches retirement, she is looking forward to dedicating more of her time to volunteering and giving back to the community—and we were fortunate to meet her at just the right time.

A retired software engineering manager, Diane brings with her a strong passion for service and community involvement. For many years, she dedicated her time to feeding the homeless on Main Beach, demonstrating a deep commitment to helping those in need.

We are thrilled to have Diane join our Rotary family and look forward to the energy and compassion she will bring to our projects and initiatives.

The Rotary Club of Laguna Beach is proud to recognize Belen Gonzalez from Laguna Beach High School as our February Student of the Month representing the Performing Arts Department.

Belen is deeply involved in her school community through the First-Generation Leaders Program, the music program, and the arts program, where she is currently studying ceramics. Her dedication to the arts has earned her several honors, including the Woody Herman Jazz Award and Breaker Awards for Jazz Ensemble and AP 3D Art and Design.

Beyond the classroom, Belen is committed to giving back. She has volunteered with Vacation Bible School at Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills and assisted with instrumental concerts at Thurston Middle School. She also performs with the Laguna Community Concert Band, sharing her love of music with the community.

Congratulations, Belen! We are proud to celebrate your achievements and commitment to service.

Three more days to submit applications for the Rotary Club of Laguna Beach 2026 Community Grants Program -- due March 13! The club supports local nonprofit organizations that make a positive, measurable impact in the Laguna Beach community.

The program provides financial assistance to nonprofits aligned with Rotary’s areas of focus, including peacebuilding, education and literacy, economic development, health initiatives, and environmental sustainability. Eligible organizations are invited to apply through the online application on the club’s website.

Barbara recently transferred from the Minocqua Rotary Club in Wisconsin and has been a dedicated Rotarian since 2003. She brings with her many years of experience as a retired nursing home administrator, along with a strong commitment to service and community.

🎉 Student of the Month Spotlight 🎉

The Rotary Club of Laguna Beach is proud to recognize Kelsey Dearing as our January Student of the Month in the Science department!

Kelsey balances academics with working part-time and participating in Engineering Club, Book Club, and Green Team. She has earned multiple honors, including the Librarian’s Award, English 10 Award, and Ceramics Teacher Award.

After graduation, Kelsey plans to pursue chemical engineering at a four-year university, with the long-term goal of earning a PhD and contributing to nuclear energy research.

Congratulations, Kelsey! We’re excited to see all you accomplish. 👏
