The American Marketing Association’s definition of marketing is as follows. https://www.ama.org/
Marketing is the activity, set of institutions and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.
The educational text “MKTG” by Lamb, Hair, and McDaniel defines marketing as follows.
Marketing entails processes that focus on delivering value and benefits to customers, not just selling goods, services and/or ideas. It uses communications, distribution, and pricing strategies to provide customers and other stakeholders, with the goods, services, ideas, values, and benefits they desire when and where they want them. It involves building long-term, mutually rewarding relationships when they benefit all parties concerned.
At its core, marketing is communication.
Marketing captures attention, creates interest, inspires desire, and converts to action.
It is the ability to convey a message to an audience at the opportune time, in a way that causes that audience to perform a predetermined action.
