🎨 COMMUNITY DAY SPOTLIGHT 🍬

This Saturday, June 13th from 12-10pm, Freedom Park will be buzzing with fun as LaGrange Community Day returns for a full day of entertainment, activities, food, and community celebration!

Today's spotlight is all about creativity! Kids can stop by to create their very own colorful sand art masterpieces and sweet candy art creations. These hands-on activities are always a hit and a fun keepsake from the day.

Of course, that's just a small part of everything happening throughout the park! Enjoy DJ Chris Wimmers, Arlington High School Orchestras, live music from the Carrie Zazz Band, and a spectacular fireworks display by Young Explosives.

You'll also find live animals with Two By Two Animal Haven, the Bubble Bus, face painting, Button Down Balloons, It's Climb Time climbing wall, bounce houses, inflatable games, Touch-A-Truck, scout activities, a sensory area, soft play for infants and toddlers, photo opportunities, an evening arcade, community organizations, local businesses, and plenty more to explore.

Feeling hungry? The LaGrange Lions Club will be serving food under the Main Pavilion throughout the day, while the LaGrange Sunrise Rotary will be offering beer, wine, and other beverages for guests ages 21+. Additional food options will be available from Wingin' It and La Guadalupana Mini Market food trucks and fried dough/nachos in the park along with cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, ice cream, and bowls/smoothies under the main pavilion.

NATURE DISCOVERY BACKPACKS COMING TO FREEDOM PARK!

Starting Friday, June 19, families can explore the outdoors in a whole new way with our NEW Nature Discovery Backpack Program! Designed for curious kids, families, and nature lovers, these FREE to loan backpacks are packed with hands-on activities, nature tools, books, guides, and fun discoveries to help you slow down and explore the world around you.

Whether you’re walking Freedom Park's Nature PlayTrail, relaxing under the pavilion, sitting on a picnic blanket in the grass, or exploring open areas throughout the park, these backpacks are meant to turn an ordinary park visit into a mini outdoor adventure!

Each backpack focuses on a different theme, including:
• Turtles
• Butterflies & Pollinators
• Trees
• Park Discovery

Inside you may find things like:
🔍 magnifiers
📚 nature books
📝 fold-out guides & identification cards
🐞 observation tools
🎨 nature journaling activities
…and more surprises to discover!

A few important things families should know:

• Backpacks are available to Freedom Lake season pass holders and LaGrange residents (residents without a season pass must show proof of residency in the form of a property tax or utility bill).

• Backpacks are for use at Freedom Park only and must stay on the park side of the bridge (please do not bring them to the beach/lake area).

• Everything inside must be returned at the end of your visit so future families can enjoy them too!

• If any nets or tools get wet, please leave them out of the backpack when returning them so the books and materials stay clean and dry.

• Backpacks are available on a first come, first served basis, between 12-5pm, at the gate house (weather permitting).

• A driver’s license is required to sign a backpack out and will be returned when the backpack and all it's contents are checked back in.

• Missing or damaged items will be charged to the user.

We’ll be sharing sneak peeks of the backpack contents soon — and once the program launches, we’d LOVE to capture photos of families exploring with them throughout the park!

This program is perfect for younger explorers and elementary-aged kids, but honestly… adults may find themselves just as fascinated by what’s inside!
