Current Chief Deputy Tracy Harker is a lifetime LaGrange County, Indiana resident passionate about the safety and health of our community members. He believes that providing the county's youth with positive, engaging experiences creates a solid foundation for the future of our county. After graduating from Westview Jr-Sr High School in 1993, Tracy became a reserve officer with the LaGrange County
Sheriff's Office in 1996 as he worked locally in the modular home industry. He became a full time deputy, serving our entire county for 15 years before advancing into administration duties in 2014 where he currently serves his 6th year as Chief Deputy, which allows him to gain experience and insight to the role and responsibilities of our county leader. Tracy attends both the County Commissioner and County Council meetings alongside Sheriff Campos, understanding and learning the importance of our county government. team member since 2003 with the Delaware County Sheriff Department. With that training, he served the Northeast Indiana S.W.A.T. as a team member, assistant team leader & team leader from 2004 - 2014. After a long application process, Harker was accepted into the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. He will be the first deputy with LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office to attend (date TBD)!! During his 24 year service at the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office, Tracy Harker has the opportunity to lead and participate in community events, positively impacting the safety of our area. He has served as a RAD Instructor, teaching women self-defense tactics for nearly 20 years. Tracy helps to organize Health & Safety Day Camp for 4th Grade Students at our area schools SINCE 2014, partnering with local fire departments, police departments, as well as Parkview Health. He continues to add onto his current 7 years as a member of the LaGrange County 4-H Board. Tracy is also serving our community as a member of the LaGrange County - Purdue Extension. Both of these programs reflect Tracy’s appreciation from being raised on a beef cattle farm in Shipshewana during his youth, where he learned the value and importance of hard work on a family farm. Chief Deputy Harker attends All School Safety Meetings, which are organized county meetings for school and officials to share information that protects all our county youth and staff. He also participates in the Juvenile Detention Alternative Incarceration, which attempts to redirect youth who have committed minor infractions from entering a world of repetitive adult criminal behavior. Tracy Harker’s dedication to the communities in LaGrange County spans further than his 24 years on the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office. He has spent years of dedication to important organizations in our county that serve community members of all ages. Tracy is an 18-year member at Son of the American Legion #215, in LaGrange. He currently serves as the LaGrange County Republican Party Treasurer and is President of The Jail Building Corporation. Tracy Harker is also a long time member of the NRA. Tracy and his wife Jennifer (Mast) are the proud business owners of Serenity Salon in LaGrange, established in 2011. Jennifer is also a lifetime resident of LaGrange County and graduate of Lakeland High School. Tracy Harker’s dedication to the future of our community is demonstrated by his 24 year commitment to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office and the important organizations that promote health and safety of our youth, who are the future of our communities.
