The Troup County Coroner’s Office is searching for the next of kin of cremains located at FreeUp Storage, 1385 Lafayette Parkway, Lagrange, Ga. The cremation occured on January 29, 2021 at Southern Crematory Ind. in San Mateo, Florida.

To claim cremains, please call 706-883-1709. We will need the decedents name and funeral home name or obituary in order to verify the identity of cremains.

Just a heads up, we have had several people call the Troup County Coroner’s office saying that they missed a call from us. It is very rare that we would ever make a death notification over the phone. If we did, that would be an absolute worst case scenario which we try very hard to avoid. If we do call you, it would be from our county cell phones and never 706-883-1709!

If you receive a call from 706-883-1709, it is a spoof call and please don’t panic! You are welcome to call us to verify, I just don’t want people needlessly alarmed!

One thing that I learned during the 2024 election is that people are seeking more transparency. After many prayers, conversations with families, agencies and amongst our staff, we will be releasing data. I'm going to start with 2021, the year that I took office and do an annual report for that year, 2022 and 2023. My hope is that I will eventually begin to release a quarterly report for 2024... that remains to be seen how it works out!
