Incident Response – Lohman Ford Road & FM 1431

This afternoon, Travis County ESD 1 personnel responded to a serious single-vehicle incident at the intersection of Lohman Ford Road and FM 1431.

A vehicle that had become disabled rolled over its owner while she was attempting to move it from the lanes of travel. Upon arrival, crews found the patient trapped beneath the vehicle.

Responders immediately assessed the scene for hazards, stabilized the incident, and provided patient care, including pain management. Due to the nature of the injuries and the patient’s condition, crews determined that rapid transport to a higher level of care was necessary.

With the vehicle resting against a utility pole and the patient trapped beneath both the vehicle and a guide wire, firefighters and EMS personnel conducted a careful and coordinated extrication to safely remove the patient while minimizing further injury.

Once extricated, the patient was transferred to the care of STAR Flight and transported by helicopter to the hospital. Fortunately, the patient sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

We would like to thank Lago Vista Police Department and STAR Flight for their assistance, coordination, and professionalism throughout the incident.

This incident serves as an important reminder to use extreme caution when moving disabled vehicles.

Public Service Announcement
The Austin–Travis County Wildfire Coalition is seeking public feedback on the draft Community Wildfire Protection Plan update.

The plan helps identify wildfire risk, prioritize mitigation efforts, and guide future preparedness and response planning across Austin and Travis County.

Public comments will be accepted from June 22 through July 6, 2026. Residents, property owners, businesses, and community members are encouraged to review the draft plan and share their feedback before it is finalized.

Activation and Preparedness

During imminent threats such as flash flooding and severe weather, the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) activates emergency response resources at the direction of the Governor to support communities across the state. Localized emergency management efforts are coordinated by region, with TDEM District Coordinators working directly with city and county emergency managers to execute comprehensive all-hazard response plans.

Travis County ESD No. 1 is proud to support this statewide initiative by deploying personnel to multiple staging locations across Texas. Our members are serving in a variety of critical roles, including operational assignments, incident management functions, and supervisory oversight positions to help ensure a coordinated and effective response.

By positioning resources ahead of anticipated impacts, emergency responders are better prepared to assist affected communities, protect lives and property, and rapidly respond when called upon.

We remain committed to supporting our local community while also answering the call to assist our fellow Texans during times of need.

Traffic Incident Update

Earlier this evening, Travis County ESD 1 personnel responded to a two-vehicle collision on Lohmans Ford Road.

Upon arrival, crews assessed and treated the occupants involved. One individual declined medical transport, while a second patient was transported to a local medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision resulted in one vehicle blocking the center lane. Emergency personnel secured the scene and worked alongside law enforcement to ensure the safety of motorists.

Crews are currently on scene of a single vehicle accident in the 21,000 blk FM-1431. Both lanes of traffic are open.

ESD1 Incident Update

ESD1 personnel are currently on scene of a single-vehicle accident involving a cargo truck carrying ice on Round Mountain Road between Fulkes Road and Great Oaks Boulevard.

The truck’s sole occupant is being evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries. Crews have assessed the vehicle and are working to mitigate any potential hazards to the public and the environment. At this time, there are no significant concerns related to the truck’s cargo.

One lane of traffic is currently closed due to the presence of emergency apparatus. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with traffic control to help ensure the safety of responders and the traveling public.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down, remain alert, and use caution when traveling through the area.

Stormy Evening Response

Last evening’s weather certainly kept ESD1 crews busy. As strong storms moved through the area, personnel responded to a reported electrical fire at a residence in Point Venture following a suspected lightning strike.

Upon arrival, crews conducted a thorough investigation of the structure and identified evidence consistent with a potential lightning strike. After a detailed assessment, no active fire was located and only minimal damage to the roof was observed.

Fortunately, there were no injuries, the damage was limited, and the residents were able to safely remain in their home. We are grateful the incident had a positive outcome despite the severe weather conditions.

With storm season in full swing, ESD1 encourages residents to remain weather aware!
