"Hello all! My name is Sam Riehl and I was born and raised right here in Lafayette, Louisiana. I am currently majoring in Industrial Design and loving every minute of it. Prior to college, I served my school as Executive Student Body President, I was a member of the Music Ministry team, BETA Club, National Honor Society, Campus Ministry, Art club, and the Risk Club (yes the board game). I am an artist - blacksmith by trade - and have been for a little over 10 years now. As of this past July, I have recently become the Vice President of the Louisiana Metalsmith's Association. At UL, I have become involved with the Honors Program, the Gateway to the Arts TLC, IDSA, and Geaux Bike UL. I look forward to possibly serving as your Freshman Senator for 2014-2015. Let's hit the ground running."

"Hello everyone! This is Briley Higginbotham. I'm a Lafayette native and am majoring in journalism due to my love of writing. In high school, I was involved in Beta club, National Honors Society, campus ministry leadership, student council, and band (I played clarinet). I was senior class president, Student of the Year and a National Merit Finalist. These days I am involved in the Ragin' Cajun Catholics discipleship team, Honors program, and Honors TLC. "My name is Mary McMahon, and I am from Houma, Louisiana. In high school I was a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, Campus Ministry, Foreign Language Club, and the 2014 Homecoming Court. I also served as Senior Class Secretary, Dance Team Captain, and Yearbook Editor. I am majoring in Speech Pathology, and I am in the Honors Program. I am a member of the Phi Nu Chapter of Delta Delta Delta here at our campus, and I currently serve as a Junior Panhellenic delegate. I am also on the Discipleship Team with Ragin Cajun Catholics at Our Lady of Wisdom. I'm so happy to be at this amazing university, and I'm very excited to see what God has in store for the Class of 2018 this year!"

Candidate of the day!

"Hello everyone! My name is Alaina Kiefner. I was born and raised in Lafayette, LA and decided to come to this university because of its explosive growth and spirit that seems to be contagious. Inspired by my high school counselor, I am majoring in Psychology in the hopes of helping people in their daily life. I went to St. Thomas More Catholic high school where I was extremely involved- I was on the Cougar Dance team serving as Co-captain senior year, President of the STM Ambassadors, Senior student council representative, National Honor Society, Campus Ministry leadership team, Options mentor CORE team, and many other committees. I also helped start the Cougars for Life club at STM. During my junior year, I was part of the Lafayette Junior Leadership council. I was on the 2014 Homecoming Court, October Cougar of the Month, Cougar of the Year, received the St. Thomas More Award, Knights of Columbus Catholic Youth Leadership award, Daughters of the American Revolution award, Cox 4 Scholar of the week honor, and was the 2014 Cougar Court Queen during my Senior year. Now being a Ragin' Cajun, I am a member of the Kappa Delta sorority, the Ragin' Cajun Catholics discipleship team, UL Students for Life, PSYCHO, Up Til' Dawn relay for life, and hoping to be involved in more throughout my collegiate experience. I have a heart for this university, service, dreams, and growth. I am ready to hit the ground running with my three amazing friends and watch the class of 2018 embrace this RARE period of time at the university."
