🚨 $9,000 for stay-at-home moms is being applauded, while families asking for childcare assistance are shamed for “having kids they can’t afford.”

➡️ This new proposal would give families with a stay-at-home parent $9,000 a year, but only if the parents are a legally married mom and dad.

❌Same-sex couples, single-parent families, divorced families, and many blended and stepfamilies would not be eligible.

➡️ I believe we should support all families.

▪️ I hate that some women want to stay home with their children but can’t because their families need two incomes to make ends meet.

▪️ I also love that some women want to work and find fulfillment in being both a working person and a mom.

➡️ But I also understand that some families have two working adults because that’s just what it takes for most families in today’s economy.

➡️ Every family should have the support needed to care for their children in the way that works best for their unique situation.

🚨 Women contributing to their local economies should not miss out.

▪️ Women working for small businesses should not miss out.

▪️ Single moms should not miss out.

▪️ Women in same-sex relationships should not miss out.

▪️ Divorced women should not miss out.

▪️ Women who cannot afford to quit their jobs in exchange for a $9,000 check should not miss out.

💰I also know that this benefit isn’t exclusively for women, though I know that statistically women will be the ones to stay home.

➡️ One of the most troubling parts of this proposal is watching it be celebrated by many of the same people who condemn childcare vouchers or complain about their tax dollars supporting public schools.

▪️Indiana could have a better and more inclusive option. We could create a larger, universal child tax credit that puts money directly back into the hands of parents, regardless of their marital status or family structure.

➡️ Then every family could decide how to use that support based on its own needs.

💵 Including childcare, groceries, housing, medical expenses, school supplies, or making it possible for a parent to stay at home.

🇺🇸 Supporting families should mean supporting all families, not using taxpayer dollars to reward only the families that fit someone else’s definition of what a family should look like.

🇺🇸On this Labor Day, it’s important to highlight how Indiana Senate District 22’s current senator has a mixed voting record when it comes to labor support.

➡️ 2012: Voted FOR “Right-to-Work” —legislation opposed by unions that prohibited agreements requiring represented workers to pay union dues or fees.

➡️ 2015: Voted to REPEAL Indiana’s Common Construction Wage — eliminating wage standards on many taxpayer-funded construction projects.

➡️ 2022: Voted AGAINST the Indiana AFL-CIO’s position on SB 297 — legislation involving teacher union dues and payroll deductions.

➡️ 2022: Voted AGAINST the Indiana AFL-CIO’s position on SB 265 — earning a “0” from the AFL-CIO for that vote on its legislative scorecard.

➡️ 2025: Voted FOR SB 405 — restricting state and local governments from considering or requiring union membership when contracting out management of publicly owned assets.

🚨I love seeing support for unions. But supporting unions isn’t something you post about, it’s something you vote for. Ron Alting voted for Right-to-Work. He voted to eliminate Indiana’s Common Construction Wage. And as recently as 2025, he voted to restrict when local governments can consider union membership in contracts. Working Hoosiers deserve more than election-year posts. They deserve votes.

And what about workers in general?

➡️ In 2024 he coauthored and voted for SB 146 — legislation that weakened some of Indiana’s child labor protections and reduced penalties for certain violations.

➡️ In 2024 he voted against stronger protections for child workers, voting no on an amendment to HB 1093 that would have preserved additional protections for minors in the workplace.

➡️ In his Vote Smart Political Courage Test, Alting declined support for increasing Indiana’s state minimum wage, which remains $7.25.

🚨Notice how everything is worth significantly more now…except for your labor?

➡️ Do you feel like your dollar doesn’t go as far as it used to?

➡️ Do your older family members blame your lack of financial security on lattes and avocado toast?

💰Since 2009, costs for necessities like housing, healthcare, and education have soared. Wages have failed to keep up.

💰What someone could buy in 2009, even on minimum wage, was significantly more than what they can buy today.

➡️And compared to 1999? The difference is even more of a red flag for what our labor is worth.

➡️Between 1999 and 2009, wages kept up with costs in some areas or even outpaced them. But from 2009 to 2025? Wages lost ground substantially in nearly every category. Signaling even more hardships ahead.

🇺🇸And we can disagree about how we got here and even what the solutions are to correct course, but I know one thing…

🇺🇸 Your hard work should still be enough.

🎉 I found it! I found the photo that perfectly sums up Indiana politics…

🚨 Indiana loves to protect women in sports. We love to do just about anything other than solve the very real problems facing Hoosier women.

➡️ Domestic violence affects approximately 1 in 5 women in their lifetimes.

➡️ Indiana is actively closing OB-GYNs, and our maternal mortality rate is one of the highest in the country… mostly because of our mistreatment of Black women.

➡️ Our near-total abortion ban has made it more dangerous than ever to give birth, contributing to the deaths of women across the state.

🏀 But here is our Attorney General Todd Rokita, “protecting women in sports” from trans women while standing next to a convicted domestic abuser who abused his wife and toddler.

➡️ So while he was busy protecting women from a problem that has harmed approximately 0 women, he was busy rubbing elbows with a domestic violence perpetrator when domestic violence affects 1 in 5 women.

🚨 Protecting women shouldn’t begin and end with sports. Violent men are a threat to women in our homes, our churches, our workplaces, our schools, and on our streets.

➡️ If we’re serious about protecting women, then let’s focus on the dangers women are actually facing every single day.

🏈 What!? Candidates can have fun too?!

➡️ Just two moms chatting at a high school football game!

▪️ Not a single door was knocked.
▪️ Not a single postcard was signed.
▪️ We even managed to talk about things other than politics for about 45 seconds!

Turns out, candidates are allowed to take a night off every once in a while!

💙 So grateful for people like Brenna Geswein for Indiana House District 13 that I’ve met along this journey! It’s so great to walk along hardworking, principled people who understand the craziness of campaigning, but also remind you to enjoy the moments along the way.

🚨 Do you think he was quoting Jesus this time, or would you say he was paraphrasing?

➡️ Our communities deserve immigration enforcement that treats all people with respect and dignity.

▪️ I support law enforcement as they work to apprehend dangerous criminals…regardless of immigration status.

▪️ In our communities, we have predators, drug dealers, unsolved violent crimes, and people who pose a real threat to public safety.

▪️ I want to see our law enforcement resources focused on catching criminals who are actually a danger to our communities, not creating fear among families who live, work, shop, worship, and raise their children here.

➡️ Fear has consequences for the entire community.

▪️ Small businesses in Lafayette are hurting as customers stay home.

▪️ Festivals and community events have been cancelled.

▪️ Families are afraid to go to work, take their kids places, or participate in their communities.

▪️ When people are afraid to leave their homes, our local businesses, schools, neighborhoods, and economy feel it.

🚨We can support law enforcement, we can hold dangerous criminals accountable, and we can enforce our laws.

➡️ And this can and should be done without forcing citizens to show their papers because of how they look, without masked and armed men running down the side of the interstate, and without creating fear in entire communities to look for the minority

We can still treat human beings with dignity while holding people accountable.

🚨Those things are not mutually exclusive.

➡️This immigration enforcement approach makes our communities less safe, less connected, and less economically secure.

🚨We should be willing to ask whether our priorities are actually making sense.

🇺🇸Countdown to Election Day Vlog #2!

🥵 100 doors in 100 degree heat and if I don’t hit it? One very serious consequence.

I made myself a challenge today on my quest to help the campaign hit 100 doors a day everyday this week.

➡️ If I didn’t hit my goal, I had to jump in the pool.

Headband and all. 😂

🌡️ Was it approximately 100 degrees outside?

Yes.

➡️Did I work extremely hard to make sure I hit those 100 doors so I wouldn’t be forced to jump into a nice, cool swimming pool after canvassing in the heat?

Obviously. I was VERY motivated to avoid that terrible fate. 😅

I may have only hit 50 doors, but that water definitely felt good!

🚨Carroll and Tippecanoe counties aren’t poor and backwards for not wanting data centers in their backyards.

➡️They’re smart for demanding that these projects come with safeguards, protections, and regulations that put our communities at the center of development instead of corporations.

➡️Between 2019 and 2025, Indiana gave up more than $655 million in sales-tax revenue through data-center exemptions for just six companies. More than $611 million went to Amazon.

➡️Data centers can consume enormous amounts of electricity and water while creating concerns about grid capacity, utility costs, noise, land use, and environmental impacts. We shouldn’t rush into decades-long commitments without understanding what they mean for Hoosier communities.

➡️Almost every single one of our politicians that voted for these project approvals and tax breaks will be long gone before the impacts of these data centers are felt economically and environmentally.

➡️Indiana allows qualifying data centers to avoid sales and use taxes on equipment and energy for up to 25 years, or up to 50 years for investments over $750 million. That’s revenue that could otherwise support Indiana’s schools, infrastructure, public safety, and other priorities.

💰We pay sales tax on the utilities we use. Why don’t data centers?

➡️I support a moratorium on new data-center construction until Indiana fully understands the long-term economic and environmental impacts. We need protections for our water, farmland, energy grid, utility customers, and local communities before we approve more projects, instead of waiting until the damage is done.
