📚📚📚Ms. Willbanks’s English 4 students took a field trip to our public library today. Students were taught about the variety of resources housed within the public library. Students signed up for a library card if they didn’t already have one. Ms. Willbanks challenges her students to read, and even competes with each class to determine who reads more books per semester, her or them.
We absolutely love the partnership between our public library and our school. We want our students to have awareness of all resources available to them, and we also want to foster a sense of community.
Nothing makes an ELA teacher happier than getting books into the hands of kids. 📚📚📚

Mr. Doug Haehl, Senior Mgr./Product Marketing for Everfi was the guest speaker today for Mrs. Curtis's Intro to Business and Ms. Mix's Marketing and Management classes. Mr. Haehl outlined his career progression from college to the present day, emphasizing effective marketing strategies and the critical role marketing plays in any business. We greatly appreciate him taking the time out of his schedule to speak to the students at MCHS.

We have all types of technology and career ready instruction going on at MCHS. Here are a few shots from inside our classrooms today. 💻⌨️
Mr. Kirby’s Mechatronics classes are programming robots to identify objects and pick them up.
Mr. Escamilla’s and Mrs. Wix’s Computer Science classes are working on coding. Students are guided through a self paced program with support and instruction from their teachers.
Ms. Julie Mix’s Marketing and Management class is working on an Analyzing Marketing Strategies simulation.

STUDENTS...... If you are interested in being an FCCLA member, membership forms and money are due on Sept 3rd to Mrs. Sallee in room 301. After you turn in your membership form, if you would like to go to the Fall Leadership Conference in Lebanon, TN, those permission forms and money are due by Sept 11th to Mrs. Austin in room 305.

Mrs. Kayla West’s Health Science Classes have been learning all about employability skills in healthcare and why they are important to the fields this week. The students had an assignment to “Build the Perfect Healthcare Worker”. This included sketching a person, and list 8 personal or interpersonal traits that are most important in healthcare. Then those groups had to present their project, and discuss the top 3 skills they chose of the 8 to their classmates. Learning these skills will help them provide safe, effective, and compassionate care to their patients. This lesson also teaches them to work together as a team, communicate, problem solve, have professionalism, and use good time management.
